Frank, this is brilliant. I have spent the last twenty years of my working life dominated by the lanyard class. I also remember working life before the lanyards and it was so much better - so much more human.

The managerial class love them and the power they imagine they bestow.

I always hated having to wear a lanyard (I was not a manager) but was penalised by HR for removing mine …

I look forward to Part 2. No one makes so much sense of this mad regime as you!

Absolutely brilliant. You could be writing about the, allegedly, quasi-homoseuxal Mark Carney with his twisted but bloodless past, his (Jimmy) Savile Row suits and his dowager's humped, Uriah Heep posturing. All the theories about a Lanyard Class are confirmed in that sorry, grey, joyless personage.
