Nordstream blew up, Russian gas and oil were sanctioned, and Europe and the UK went hell-for-leather for windmills, solar and deindustrialisation. This quixotic mess has all unravelled of course. And here we are. I said in fact it was not just about gas (on Feb 19th 2022), but also a battle of "bullshit versus bullets" - meaning the fantasies and propaganda of the liberal West versus the proven industrial and military power of Russia backed by near limitless mineral resources.
During the Brandon administration I joked that, had Putin invaded the US of A, a healthy number of patriots would probably have assisted Putin in toppling that vile regime.
Has there ever been a more out-of-touch, contemptible group of elites?
The absolute rubbish we have been fed as the official line is producing an attitude of routine disbelief in the things we are told - and in the people saying them.
These grandstand narratives are all false, of course, and now anything but them forms the public’s discourse.
I think you’re probably right. Anyone who has noticed all this would rather die than fight for these chiselling liars.
The internet has allowed for the transmission of counter narrative information. Elites are playing whack-a-mole with populist movements popping up in opposition to their lies and incompetence. They recently successfully clobbered the Romanian mole, but every time they do so, more people are radicalized and they lose more credibility. So completely convinced of their own superiority, my worry is that the "elites" will turn to more violent suppression of the populace should their rule be threatened before the digital prison is rolled out.

Bullets beat bullshit every time.

Interesting times.
