We're all addicts in the liberal order; no man escapes. So, like all addicts, we spend our lives kidding ourselves that we've kicked the habit. That is, until the day you see yourself as an addict and know what you must do.
I have come to the same conclusion in my own, albeit less analytical, way. I benefit from being retired and reclusive and that means I have the enormous advantage of not having close relationships to jeopardise by just speaking openly and honestly, by being myself.
I am a bit depressed by the apolitical stance of some close family members. They seem to be just adopting the attitude of "what can I do about these things": to me that is, to say the least, NOT admirable.
In summary, yes, I agree. Regardless of one's religion or creed I do believe that there, is for most issues, such a thing as absolute truth, absolute right. I try to do it, not always successfully, of course.
