Who are some news sources you trust to report the situation accurately? I've long given up on teevee news and have been disappointed by the radio silence or even support of this attack by some X figures.
Iran no longer exists as a coherent, centralized government and that is a massive failure state for everyone involved. What is now happening are largely uncoordinated attacks by local dead hand units. There is no chain of command that can call them off.
Assuming Trump balks at boots on the ground (an assumption I am not willing to make) the most likely outcome is a secular but still adversarial Iran: this would be a much more dangerous adversary as they wouldn't be weighed down by the priors of the Mullahs who trend old. IRGC (remnants) trend younger by a big margin.
