My experience of most religious institutions is deeply discouraging, as we live in a time in which they are being equalised into the idolatry of liberal beliefs. I can understand why they may leave you indifferent.
If you get into Eliot, for example, you see a vast exploration of the search for meaning. If you continue you will be hard put to find a competitor explanation to that provided by the traditional doctrine of the Catholic Church. I don’t think there is one. It may sound a contentious claim but is one worth testing.

I found the image of Raphael's "The School of Athens" on the cover of "Civilization", rather interesting - perhaps because you were talking about "looking down or looking up". One of the pupils of Euclid/Bramante is looking up. Critics seem to interpret it as having a eureka moment, but I thought he may be looking up to the heavens - to god - in a soft of awe to science revealing the thought and designs of god. Just wanted to share that this piece was thought-provoking.

In 1500’s England there were two factions the REFORMation and and the RESTOREation. The Reformation wanted to destroy the ancient Christian culture of England, close the community centered monasteries, the catholic festivals and connection and Reform England under a protestant ‘Anglican’ church that would see centralised power, government and currency (banking), and progressive flag wavers (satanists) in every so-called christian institution by 1900’s end.
The Restoration wanted the ancient English Christian heritage and it’s divine cultural bonds refound. The vatican has had its ups and downs and been ruled over by subversives but there are many catholics still fighting for Christ, the current Anglican Church is neither a church nor christian and that’s why while English people turn away from their church it does nothing to correct it’s mistakes and try to bring them back. #ReformUK and #RestoreBritain this is where the real spiritual battle for England is fought!
