Small correction to an otherwise good (and depressing) overview... 4.5m people in the UK have not been "denied the vote". Two new local authorities have said they are unable to hold LOCAL elections (not national elections, which aren't due until 2029) when those elections are due in May for boring and practical reasons (there are new local bodies being created, this is an administrative workload issue). The ability to vote is not being nullified, it is delayed, and only in those two local areas. This is being contested for sure, but whatever happens the voters in question will still have their say as to who gets to run their local authority (although spoiler alert, in the UK local government has very little latitude, with budgets and big decisions determined by central government). When the world is going to hell it's as important not to overstate the trivial as it is to call out the really bad things that are happening. Also, heads up, the Daily Express is a rabidly weird media outlet to use as a source, it can make Fox News look like a citadel of moderation and accuracy.
