Why literature is no longer news
Literature has become like a museum piece, both in the historical study of characters from another time, but more significantly because as an instrument of investigation it is redundant.
The explanation of people on the basis of speech and thought and behaviour, of their motives and what moves them, is unacceptable.
What then is the purpose of literature in the present?
