"I have seen the world transported towards increased depravity and tyranny with unfaltering consistency over the course of my life. I have seen evil objectives achieved under the cloak of the purest of motives with such tedious repetition that I now accept fabricated concern for the oppressed as the only possible delivery system for genuine wrongdoing."
So wrote Sam Gerrans when he was briefly a columnist for RT, in expectation that one day Frank Wright would make the same observation.
i no longer participate in receiving so called journalism that is still based on 'drama' minus facts just to get readers, simply distractions.....you are the last man standing Frank,as i appreciate someone who is solid and knows....and i thank you. focusing on my garden this year....blessings
If you do that despicable job you find out how the sausage is made and the various factories. Some actually do reporting - but a lot of it is just processed product from the sponsors.

Thank you Linda - and that is odd. My SubStack appears to have flatlined, whilst Substack sends me messages it is “rising in the charts”. I was at #77 in “culture” last week - one above Delingpole, but 76 behind Popbitch.
I don’t care what this means and am of course incredulous towards digital narratives generally. What can we do but carry on regardless?
Homage to Catalonia was, in my Opinion, one of Eric's greatest works. He indeed had some quirks, but he lays bare the difference between ideology and reality superbly in this war narrative.
"Orwell’s essay explains the role of language in political power. "
No, it does not. Orwell's barely interesting essay is an exceedingly minor kvetch about the degradation of written English in his time, of which he identified political writing as one noteworthy example. He was complaining about how bad political writing is at saying what it means, not about it being an instrument of tyranny.
Read the essay again. There is nothing in there about any secret plots to dominate and control the masses through the manipulation of language. The intellectual content therein is really quite minimal, and what little there is of it is of decidedly belletristic emphasis. His six "rules" at the end are entirely concerned with diction, not at all with politics. They are also quite bad rules, although it seems like something like them has been responsible for convincing several generations of sanctimonious armchair grammarians that they know what they're talking about when they don't.
Everybody projects onto Orwell a genius which simply doesn't exist. There is no more overrated 20th century author than George Orwell, a fabulist mistaken for an incisive prophet. He was also an atheist and a socialist. Surely anyone interested in a Catholic restoration can find a better muse to guide him. For instance, you can always read my book, which is timely, accurate, orthodox, and slightly less than 80 years old.

That’s quite the quote and thank you for that as I hadn’t heard it and probably wouldn’t have but for you. Very well put.

Well stated.
Planning to observe the Sabbath this week. No media. Just time to enjoy simple pleasures.

Superb work.
Absolutely brilliant Frank thank you 🙏

I'm with you apart from the energy thing. Nothing to sell, so I don't see how it can be a product line, and damned powerful in.my opinion.
Donovan said it best.
Nice work Frank
