What I am trying to do is to provide you with arguments which help you to better explain your own life. This post is long. It treats the complex technological society we inhabit. It will introduce ideas which in the past were radical and today still inform much sentiment about human nature, freedom and civilisation.

Later it will provide a kind of summary, culminating in the most recent and in my view valuable ideas about man, machine and managerialism.
