If the news tells you it is raining you would probably go outside with your hand out. This incredulity toward the Grand Narrative is a sign you have not yet gone mad. If only everything were so easy to deny in the climate of opinion.
Of course to gainsay the advert world is to be called a denier. I prefer the term ‘reality based community’ to the pejorative insult of denial, since I identify as normal. The replacement of the facts with some insulting gibberish before which you are compelled to kneel is a feature, not a bug, of our post-sane digital media world. It is as if staring into screens all the time did not, in fact, improve a person’s mind.
Since The News is just product placement with benefits (you will be receiving these, uhh, benefits regardless of consent) it is wise to think outside the idiot box. Look at the news as if it were a jigsaw puzzle with all the important bits missing. The news is clues, no more.
