What we have seen on Zoom cannot be unseen.

The last two years have been apocalyptic. It has seemed like the end of the world at times– and perhaps some things we took for granted have come to an end. Yet there have been quite a few revelations – which is what apocalypse is said to mean – which no mask could ever conceal.

How many parents have been surprised by what they saw of teaching on Zoom? To people who have some experience of the education industry none of the following will come as a surprise. To most parents, who are wise or fortunate enough to have escaped the classroom in their childhood, they had no idea what was really going on in school – until it came home.

Apparently home schooling has increased in the UK over the last two years. Anecdotally people say it’s likely because parents discovered they could do it themselves, since they all had to be at home anyway, and perhaps the move toward remote working made it possible for some.
