In this series I have tried to introduce the reader to one of the most important documents in Catholic teaching.

Pascendi is the masterpiece of Pope St. Pius X. Rendered a year after publication in 1907 as “A Catechism of Modernism”, this book explains like no other the crisis in the Church today.

It shows you what the Modernists are doing, why they are doing it, and how they will do it.

It shows you that the aim of the Modernists is to replace the Catholic religion with heresy.

The first ten posts in this series show the Modernist Errors and the Causes of Modernism.

This post is about what can be done to reclaim the Church from its enemies.

COUNTER-SYNODALITY: IN DEFENCE OF THE CATHOLIC RELIGION

The final part of a Catechism on Modernism shows how we rid the Church of the Modernist sickness.

The first ten parts of this series show the astonishing accuracy with which Pope St Pius X predicted the crisis in the Church today, which is now teaching the false religion of “Synodality” instead of the Catholic religion.

My friend Professor William A Thomas has written a book called “Catholic Revivalism or Synodality”. This will be available soon.

He is a theologian at the Holy See, and has served under every Pope since John Paul II.

Prof. Thomas is not a “radical traditionalist”. He is one of the world’s leading Mariologists and an authority on Marian apparitions.

What has radicalised this man, who has known Pope Leo since his schooldays and who now denounces Leo as the teacher of a false and heretical cult?

Prof. Thomas says the Vatican is teaching heresy. “Synodality” is not Catholic.

It is the synthesis of heresies - Modernism - which Pope St Pius X warned would come to capture the institutions of the Catholic Church.

How severe is the sickness that grips the Vatican and its clergy today?

THE SICKNESS OF THE MODERN “CHURCH”

Pope St Pius X said the Modernist reformation would attack and capture the priesthood, subvert Catholic dogma, and preach heresy to the laity.

The Society of Saint Pius X was established by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre to preserve the Catholic priesthood.

How do we know this? Here, Fr. Robert Brucciani of the SSPX reads out the Dream of Archbishop Lefebvre which says exactly that:

The SSPX is threatened with excommunication by a Vatican which is now beatifying a pederast.

On February 12th Leo’s Vatican sent a practising homosexual to meet with the Superior General of the Society of Saint Pius X.

The picture below presents the choice facing Catholics today. There is a Catholic priest on the right, and to the left there is Fernandez.

The Vatican is rotten. It has abandoned the Catholic religion for a depraved atheist cult which is equivalent to the State Religion of the ruling international elite, and which inevitably leads to the endorsement of paedophilia - as is now clear.

This is the work of Satan.

Pascendi was subtitled “Feeding the Lord’s Flock”. It is intended to protect the faith of the faithful from the attacks of Modernism.

Chapter Four of A Catechism of Modernism describes how Modernist religious belief sees all religions as equally true - or false.

It shows

• What the Modernists mean by “religious belief”

• How the Modernists assimilate tradition into their false doctrine

• How the Modernists relate Faith and Science

• …and then summarises the consequences of these Modernist beliefs

This has elevated the liberal politics of modern times to the status of religion.

II: COMPARISON WITH THE MODERN CHURCH

In each part of this series I compare the teachings of Pope St Pius X on the errors of Modernism to the public statements of Pope Leo XIV and those of the Synodal Church whose doctrine he preaches.

If you think this is a little extreme, or that I am an extremist for inviting the reader to witness how this is being done today by the Vatican, consider my remarks on a recent interview with Professor William A Thomas.

Prof Thomas is a theologian at the Holy See, and has served under every Pope since John Paul II.

Pope St. Pius X warned us that the Modernists use the “bad disguise” of appealing to Catholic dogma in order to replace it with their own.

Chapter Four ended by warning the aim of the Modernists is to create a new and modern theology to replace that of the Catholic Religion.

Chapter Five explains how Modernists use history and criticism to advance this agenda.

This is perhaps the most significant chapter I have covered so far.

This chapter develops the ideas presented in Chapter One, showing how the false metaphysics and reasoning of the Modernists are applied to religious belief in practice.

After that, I examine some recent statements of Pope Leo XIV, particularly his January 9th speech to the diplomats of the Vatican.

The reason for this is to explain by example the religious philosophy of the modernists as practised today.

This section is long, but should help you understand how to distinguish between arguments from God and those for Man in His place.

THE TIMELESS WISDOM OF PASCENDI

In this series I hope to present examples from our times which illustrate the modernist errors described in Pascendi Dominici Gregis, the 1907 masterpiece of Pope St Pius X, transcribed as A Catechism of Modernism.

Part One warned of a new “One World Church” - a globalist religion absent Christ, centred on the human person.

Part Two showed how Modernist Errors are now taught by the Modern Church:

In Part Four, we look at what is meant by the Modernist as Theologian. As we shall see, behind this deceptively dry title lies the routemap of errors which has led to the Modern Religion of Following The Science.

The Third Chapter of a Catechism on Modernism is called “The Modernist as Theologian”.

It shows why Modernist theology is wrong, and how it produces the terrible effects we have endured in the deliberate misuse of science and nature to supplant the Divine origin of religion.

We see the modernist theology advances a religion subordinate to science.

This brief section treats difficult concepts - such as immanence and naturalism - showing how the theoretical basis of the modern idea of God is false, and that this modernist view leads to a person-centred idea of religion absent the Divine.

“Immanence” (strictly, “vital immanence”) is the philosophical belief that the origins of God are in Man. This was explained in the first two chapters of Pascendi.

In this series I hope to do two things: to introduce the reader to Pascendi Dominici Gregis, and to compare the errors it condemns with the teachings of the Vatican today.

Transcribed as “A Catechism of Modernism”, Pascendi is the masterpiece of Pope St. Pius X.

It explains, in precise detail, the nature and origin of the errors of modernism which Pius X said threatened to replace the Catholic faith with a “One World Church”.

In this series I invite the reader to compare and contrast the work of Pope St Pius X to the teaching of the Synodal Church today.

The result is an education with real life examples in the errors of Modernism.

Our lives are an education in ignorance, since the Modern world is near total in its domination.

To read the works of the Great Popes is to see beyond the limits of the prison into which Man has been liberated - and thereby to escape it.

THE RELIGIOUS PHILOSOPHY OF THE MODERNISTS - PARTS 6 - 9

In part one we looked at the opening five sections of Pascendi Dominici Gregis, transcribed as a Catechism on Modernism. These parts explained the basic errors of the Modernist concept of religion.

This catechesis in Modernism showed how the Modernists aim to reduce the origin of religion to the senses of Man, replacing the Divine deposit of faith with feeling.

This produces a religion of sentiments, which is person-centred. It is a humanist idea of religion which is essentially agnostic, as it is founded on the assumption that Man cannot know God through means of Reason nor Revelation.

With Modernist religion being a matter of personal sensation, it follows that the Modernists will seek to alter the practice of religion according to the sensibilities of the time.

Today we will consider what it means to reduce religion to sentiment, how this denies the truth of the Catholic faith, and inevitably leads to the changing of the teachings of the Church into a litany of errors.

What is a “religion of sentiments?”

Some of the passages in Pascendi are challenging. This is because encyclicals from this time were concerned with precision. As such, the treatment of the origin of religion deals with philosophical - mainly metaphysical - concepts to show how and why Modernism is wrong, and to demonstrate the logical conclusions which proceed from its foundational errors.

This post is long because what Pascendi tells us is of vital importance to the salvation of our souls.

I also include passages from Pope Leo XIV and the leader of the Synodal Church Nathalie Becquart so the reader may compare these statements with those made by Popes St Pius X, Leo XIII and Pius XII.

PART ONE - SECTION SIX - THE ORIGIN OF RELIGIONS IN PARTICULAR

The sixth section of Part One discusses the Modernist idea of the origin of religion.

It begins with the above passage.

Section six shows how the Modernist deletes the supernatural - which is God - in saying religion is a timeless form whose existence is simply natural.

Of course, this reduces all religions to mere symbol systems, making them equally false.

This is called “naturalism” - the view that the world and everything in it has a non-spiritual origin - including religious belief.

It is for this reason that those who hold these views are condemned - or were condemned - by the Church.

The charge is made that Synodality is a religion of sentiments. You can now understand what is meant when theologians say this. It is to say that the person-centred ethos of Synodality -the new way of “Being Church” - is anathema.

That is to say, Synodality is not the Catholic religion.

If you are interested as to how we came to be paying the highest taxes on record to fund the demolition of our civilisation this series will explain the roots, errors and fruits of the Modern idea which promised a worldly paradise -and has delivered us into hell on earth.

The main question here of course is how did the Vatican come to promote the cult of the Modern in place of the Catholic religion?

In this series I will introduce the reader to the answers found in the Catechism on Modernism.

First published in 1908, this book sets out the famous encyclical of 1907 called Pascendi Dominic Gregis, the masterpiece of Pope St Pius X, which explains the causes and errors of Modernism along with their effects.

A WARNING FROM HISTORY

Four years before his death in 1914 Pope St Pius X warned of the creation of a global religion to replace the Church of Christ.

In his 1910 encyclical Our Apostolic Mandate he warned of:

“…the great movement of apostasy being organized in every country for the establishment of a One-World Church…”

He said this religion

“…shall have neither dogmas, nor hierarchy, neither discipline for the mind, nor curb for the passions…”

and added it will be sold to us

“under the pretext of freedom and human dignity”.

The result would be a world governed by

“…the reign of legalized cunning and force, and the oppression of the weak, and of all those who toil and suffer.”

Today the Vatican and the Anglicans preach a doctrine which is effectively the transitioning of religious belief into the worship of the idols of the liberal-global agenda. This is presented as the progressive agenda of the emancipation of mankind, which in practice has led to the moral and financial bankruptcy of what remains of the Christian West.

A COMMON FAITH

How did we get to a point where the Vatican preaches this sort of ecumenical humanism - and denies it has possession of the truth?1

The project towards a “One-World Church” appears to be the inspiration for the Synodal Way, which is leading the modern Church towards and very likely beyond the progressive cult that has captured the Church of England.

Pope Leo calls for an ecological conversion, which seeks to direct Catholic religious belief into this and other totems of the global agenda. Climate, open borders, LGBTQ and so on. This is the common faith we see today.

It is not the Catholic faith. It is the invention of the enemies of the Church, and its success has been secured by the technique of revolution.

Is this all a “conspiracy theory” dreamed up by paranoid radical traditionalists? No.

The American pragmatist philosopher John Dewey published a series of essays called “A Common Faith” in 19342.

Eight years beforehand, he had helped to found the Council on Foreign Relations - the managing group of the newly installed liberal democracies in the West and beyond.

Dewey’s book is a blueprint for the removal of God from religion, in order to maintain religious structures to expedite global management.

Twenty years after the death of Pius X, this manual appeared. It was a how-to and also a why-to guide on the creation of the “One-World Church”.

Titled Liberalism is a Sin, it appeared 21 years before Pascendi.

Here I will compare how this book informs our understanding of the condemnation of modernism as the “Synthesis of all heresies” - and in doing so will try to show that what is meant here by the related concepts of “liberalism” and “modernism”.

I hope by doing so we will better understand the crisis we inhabit in Church and State today - and of course, how best to get out of it.

This book has a banger of a title. It was published by the late Thomas Aquinas Nelson, who died earlier this year. His TAN books, founded in 1967, also published the guide to Pascendi I will use in this series:

Mr Nelson sold these books at a “drastic bulk discount” to ensure as many people could read them as possible.

It is thanks to him these books exist, and that their diagnosis of and remedy for the cultural sickness which plagues our times can be readily transmitted.

LIBERALISM AND MODERNISM

The opening pages of these books are as a lighted lamp in the noontide of these dark times.

Though both books provide a detailed and clear picture of their subjects, I will give a definition of them to simplify matters.

In his introduction to Liberalism is a Sin, Thomas. A. Nelson tells us this book deals with the Liberalism in religion - not in politics -

“…though it definitely bears on that realm as well”.

Dr. Don Felix Sarda y Salvany was the author of Liberalism Is A Sin. In this neglected classic this Barcelona Catholic priest defines Liberalism as:

“The assumption of the absolute sovereignty of the individual”.

This of course means the individual’s “entire independence from God”, and is promoted through the belief in rationalism. This is the denial of the supernatural, and therefore of any idea of any authority higher than Man himself.

The process this leads to is secularisation, the subtraction of God from all social, moral, political and theological matters. This is explained by The Don here:

The Don, as I shall refer to him, begins his book by explaining the connection between the rejection of God’s authority, His replacement with Reason and human conscience, Protestantism, and the fundamental belief which results:

“That one creed is as good as another”.

This is the same as saying that there is no good in any of them, as The Don points out.

In our times, the ecumenical humanism of the Synodal church supports this view. It has been said that the recent insult to Our Lady is one attempt to reach out to the Protestants, but it seems odd to me to attempt to do so by systematically abolishing any difference between the Catholic religion and all the others.

The real reason this is done is explained by the fact that the liberals and the modernists are now teaching ABC - Anything But Catholicism.

So what is liberalism - and what has it got to do with the modernism in the church condemned by Pope St Pius X?

LIBERALISM AND MODERNISM

Since we are going to look at Liberalism (The Don) and Modernism (Pope St Pius X) here is a brief distinction.

Liberalism sought to liberate mankind through Reason, by making laws and institutions which promised political and economic freedom.

Modernism questions the institutions themselves, along with the liberal idea of progress as well as Reason itself.

It is fair to say that the Liberal idea produced the Modern mind, which has now gone so far as to deny reality and facts completely in the Postmodern Condition.

You could say that Liberalism began with the denial of God over Man, and that Modernism proceeded to do away with everything else - in the name of the Self.

SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT POLITICAL LIBERALISM

I think Liberalism has been used to promote an economic system which is advertised through these (false) promises of liberation. This is called “Liberal Democracy”.

Modernism is a name for the culture which is mass produced by this system in my view. The Liberals began as those who believed in a rational Man who could rationalise the world around him. As the techniques of mass society were refined towards the manufacture of mass belief, a Modern culture was promoted which maintains the promise of freedom whilst actually dissolving man, his meaning, his history, religion and his civilisation into himself.

To put this simply I think “liberal democracy” is a marketing term for the creation of a global marketplace bound a common and Godless faith. This ambitious project is sold by promises of freedom - but the basic idea is a complete lack of restraint.

It is fundamentally irresponsible, resulting in the chaos of our times.

The Liberal State does not discharge its duties to its subjects, and nor do its subjects recognise any duties regarding their state in life. Liberalism and modernism have liberated Man from meaning and from responsibility, blinding him to the obvious.

One obvious fact which is largely invisible is that we inhabit the consequences of what we do.

If you connect the dot of what is done to what becomes then you are likely to be reported to the authorities.

This is what happened to the author of Liberalism Is A Sin. Enter The Don.

DON FELIX - THE PRIEST WHO COULDN’T BE CANCELLED

The Don here was a priest in Barcelona.

At the age of 42 he wrote his 1886 book “ El Liberalismo es Pecado ”, which would later be republished in English as “What is Liberalism” in 1899. It would appear in 1993 as “Liberalism is a Sin” thanks to TAN Books.

For this service to the defence of the faith, Fr. Sarda was attacked by his own diocesan bishop.

“Authority is nothing else but numbers and the sum total of material forces” -

Maxima Quodem - Pope Pius IX

This is one of the errors of the modern world as stated by Blessed Pope Pius IX in his 1862 allocution, Maxima Quodem.

Two years later, Blessed Pope Pius IX would publish his 1864 “Syllabus of Errors” - as an appendix to his encyclical Quanta Cura.

The Syllabus Errorum as it is titled in Latin also contained the above line about power.

Stated with deceptive simplicity, this error when examined unfolds the conflict between the natural law defended by the Church - and the reduction of all meaning to the limits and desires of Man under the banner of “progress”.

This series also presents a brief history of the subtraction of Christ from Christendom, and His replacement with the political beliefs of liberalism.

Today, the Vatican is seeking to transform the Church into a democratic liberal entity by way of the synodal path.

This is to refashion the Church in the image of Man’s institutions - patterned on the European Union and the United Nations - so that the Church itself will resemble a liberal democracy.

THE LIBERAL PROJECT

As I have explained in my Brief History of Liberal Democracy, this system is merely presented as one offering universal empowerment.

In reality it is the realisation of Isaiah Berlin’s second type of liberal government: the rule by an elite which decides what the ruled shall believe and desire through the manufacture of consent.

Of course, liberal democracy presents its authority as legitimised by majority opinion. In reality, public opinion is made by the ruling elite, in a soft despotism whose power is secured by the making and marketing of belief. This is how the sacred majority of democratic rule is contrived, and its legitimacy - claimed by the “sum of numbers” - is a falsehood.

The power of liberal democracy is secured in fact by the “sum total of material forces” as explained by Pope Pius IX. These forces are the control of positions of power, of patronage, partnership with NGOs and sinecures - and of course in the domination of media messaging.

I attempt here to explain a wider context showing how we came to have a modern Vatican which preaches the political religion of climate, migration, feminism and the rainbow flag.

The broader liberal current has resolved into a project, political and religious, to replace everything with itself in Church as in State, in imagination as in reality.

It is the replacement of reality with a tragedy of errors. This series will show these errors, and how they are to be corrected.
