The spiritual and intellectual poverty of our times is so profound that it often passes without notice.

It has been normalised by constant subtraction, leaving generations unaware of what has been lost, or even that there has been a loss at all.

This is an essay about what that means for our civilisation.

Whether we can reverse the rot which threatens to replace it with barbarism is a matter of recognition, then remembering, and finally of restoration.

It will take you about ten minutes to read.

Is our civilisation being destroyed?

Towards the end of his 13 part television series “Civilisation”, Kenneth Clark said civilisation is fragile and is always threatened by barbarism. It cannot be taken for granted and can be destroyed. At times, it is.

Do we live in such a time?

Clark listed the enemies of civilisation, which he said were:

“…first of all fear — fear of war, fear of invasion, fear of plague and famine, that make it simply not worthwhile constructing things, or planting trees or even planning next year’s crops.”

We have suffered a fearful plague under the Covid regime, and the threat of war is escalating. Today, few people are possessed of the optimism common a generation ago. Unbelief in the future is a sign that civilisation is endangered.

Another omen was noted by Clark - the fear of speaking out, which he described as the “fear of the supernatural”:

“…which means that you daren’t question anything or change anything.”

In what remains of Western civilisation there are penalties attached for questioning the ruling belief system.

Why civilisations die

The threat of a social or even financial death sentence for public heresy against the State religion further threatens the material prosperity, shared order and belief in the future which Clark says are all necessary for civilisation to survive.

When people no longer believe in the future the horizon of life shrinks to the self. Civilisation takes place on a far longer timescale. It is secured by its capability to endure, and as Clark says it is rotted by “cynicism and disillusionment” leading to the “destruction, fear and loss of creative confidence” which typifies barbarism.

Clark shows us that civilisation can be annihilated by demoralisation as well as by war. When man’s world shrivels to the limits of himself he becomes like an atom in a gas, a particle sublimated from something once solid. You can call this process of aimless atomisation liberating, and that is in fact what our mass culture does today.

Culture and Civilisation

We must not mistake what is for what was, nor for what can be. What we understand as culture today is in fact a replacement for cultural life and its origins, which are found in the family.

When we say the rights of family are prior to those of the State we are noting a fact whose consequences are not immediately visible.

The family predates the State - of course. Yet it also produces what makes life worth living, which is how TS Eliot once described culture.

The relationship of culture to civilisation is so close that the two are often used interchangeably. This shows us how important it is to understand what threatens our civilisation and what has replaced the culture it produced.

Of course, one reason why this is in turn significant is that our lives will be less worth living if the rot continues without reversal.

Recognising the rot

Culture cannot be remade by policy, but policies can be reversed and enacted which do not actively deracinate it.

The loam in which it flourishes can be watered instead of salted, bringing new life from the “flesh, fur and faeces” of our heritage.

The problem of the defence of civilisation is related to a misprision of historical causes, which Herbert Butterfield points out.

In “The Whig Interpretation of History” Butterfield shows how the progressive sages of our times judge the past from their momentary point of view - as if all human action inexorably progressed to produce themselves and their idea of the world, our purpose and its moral order.

The mistake being made is to see the past as a sort of hypotenuse, an upward slope of causes producing the effect of progress. This is the reasoning for permanent revolution. It is the foundation of all policies of replacing order with chaos, meaning with its opposite, and the value of life with price.

I have described this “progress” as precisely the sort of destruction which terminates a civilisation. It reduces the human condition to the absurd - to disharmony with the Natural law, rights and order. The result is moral collapse and social disorder resulting from the complete undermining of the recognition of objective reality, truth and morality1.

The zelotic belief that this terminus will be a sort of utopia inspires this recasting of the past from the present point in time, which in turn justifies everything that has been done towards an as yet unrealised and idealised future.

We must awaken from this delusion to fully understand the threat to our civilisation. This progressive belief system has produced a cult to replace our culture, which reduces all life to consumer sensations animated and advertised by the mobilisation of desire.

What we have in place of culture today is a symbol set transmitted by mass communication and infused with nihilistic fervour.

In this simulacrum of being and reality there is nothing more than wants. Demand is supplied for only what the product line of our political economy can offer. There is nothing more to life than what is presented, and there is no sin but the restriction of human action.

This is a license to universal barbarism, which is openly practised at the level of self and of the State.

Why are our politicians unprincipled and what is the future of the rotten party machines which require components over competents? To answer these questions is to understand the machinery of electoral success in the West.

In this essay I explain what machine politics is, where it comes from, where it is going and what might come next - with the help of technology.

This post is the tenth extract from my forthcoming book, A Brief History of Liberal Democracy.

A Century of Technique

Technique is the process of standardising results. It is seen in Western politics through the transition of political parties from their basis of principle to the practice of winning elections. This can be called machine politics.

Its context is the engineering of our society to present this politics as the supreme product in its line.

Why would anyone need an alternative to perfection?

I explained this technique in chapter eight here:

For over a century we have been increasingly ruled by media - the mediums of mass communication, education, workplace terms and online conditions, entertainment and all the products placed before us to consume including the output of our mass-market intellectuals.

This soft power was mobilised to dominate two spheres - foreign and domestic - meaning the purpose of cultural production collapsed the distinction between subversion overseas and abroad.

For this reason some commentators correctly observe there is no difference between foreign and domestic policy.

This technique - the sponsorship of mass culture - produces “soft power”.

MARSHMALLOW TOTALITARIANISM

This power is called “marshmallow totalitarianism” by the English writer Peter Hitchens.

Here is an explanation of this concept from 2017:

Hitchens…warned that an “established atheism” is creeping up on Britain.

Citizens are becoming the subjects of a “soft, marshmallow, totalitarianism”.

This does not involve dawn raids by secret police but instead subtle threats to employment and livelihood.

Hitchens said it is

“Made clear in the lives of particularly those who work in the public sector that there is no job security and there is no advancement if you will not conform…”.

In this case, the conformity is as it is in every case: to the liberal agenda, which makes compliance with trans-sanity a legal duty for employers - and those who wish to remain employed.

Hitchens also called the European Union a “marshmallow tyranny”, noting how the then Czech President Vaclav Klaus said:

“It is post-democracy, really, that rules the EU.”

Hitchens said in 2009,

The sticky, marshmallow bonds of the EU are obviously not the iron shackles of the old dictators. But they are bonds all the same, and once they are in place, the Czechs will have little to distinguish them from their neighbours apart from their beer, their literature, their music and their complex language.

From having been a country, they will become a regional oddity in a state called Europe.

This “post-democracy” is a forced consensus, and it is not enforced by the brutal and overt methods of Soviet Communism - but by a process which is familiar to practically anyone living in the West today.

In our marshmallow totalitarianism, the threat is usually much softer – the dissenter’s job and standing are threatened, and if he does not give in, his livelihood and his reputation are taken away.

The terms and conditions of the liberal consensus are enforced everywhere. We are surrounded by the sticky blob of the soft, sickly-sweet power of the liberal state.

Instead of the torture machine and Room 101 in the Ministry of Love, the Twitter Mob, howling with execration, incessant and relentless, frightens most bodies into sacrificing the necessary victim.

It seems to work. The chosen individual suffers, but everyone else soon gets used to it.

Why does this work? Consumer liberalism replaces norms with normlessness, God with nothing, and meaning with the memes of its machine. The result is a passive population with no principles.

Most people don’t have very strong convictions about anything, so they never get close to these threats, and just adapt.

An opinion becomes a principle when you lose something valuable in its defence. Hitchens says the rate of change from a principled politics to the manufacture of public opinion has been giddying:

I am endlessly amused by the behaviour of politicians and mainstream media persons, presenters of TV and radio shows etc, who have seamlessly shifted their received opinions in the last 30 years, and swallow things as normal which in the 1980s they would have regarded as stark staring mad.

This is the milieu in which machine politics makes most sense. Principles come at a price few are now prepared to pay. Why not offer something else instead?

TONY BLAIR: THE DARK LORD OF MACHINE POLITICS

Tony Blair is the greatest machine politician of our time. He invented the modern machine politics adopted from Canada to Canberra - and across the European continent.

He ditched the Labour Party’s foundational principle of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange - replacing materialist socialism with aspirational slogans - and permanent change.

This change, he said, would produce stability and prosperity.

For a time this seemed true, as British people were gaslit into disbelieving their eyes about the wave of mass migration which followed the upbeat jingle of “Things Can Only Get Better.”

A war in Iraq was confected which killed over a million historic Christians. It powered a surge in migrants from the Middle East, combining with the assault on Syria to produce the 2015 migration crisis.

After Blair came Cameron - a so-called “conservative” elected by following the Blairite playbook. His war in Libya, conducted with Hillary Clinton, smashed open the floodgates to African migration into Europe and Britain.

Later, his fellow Conservative Boris Johnson opened them wider - allowing 5.3 million migrants into the UK from 2020-2024.

How did all this happen? Machine politics made election victories possible in Britain, as elsewhere in the West, by completely disconnecting manifesto promises from policy.

A continuity politics was formed in which the same basic agenda of war, migration and rainbow flags was pursued by successive governments in red and blue ties - from the US to the Ukraine.

This is why Tony Blair matters - wherever you are in the West. Your politicians use his methods and his messaging, and they are looking to him to provide a way out of the mess their policies have made.

The basis of Blair’s super structured election machine is the economic system of global liberalism. It is in every dimension a war economy, requiring permanent wars abroad to continue its volcanic eruptions of borrowing, and using the resulting debt to finance the sponsorship of mass culture to manufacture electorally convenient public opinions.

The problem with this system without principles is that the populations it rules have begun to notice what it produces. The marshmallow appears to be toasted.

There are two remedies to this predicament:

1. Change the political economy - or

2. Change the process of power.

Blair is leading global leaders to do #2 by promising #1 to the voters.

Tony Blair invented the machine politics now used in almost every state in the liberal western empire. This machine is breaking down, as the information monopoly it requires has been broken.

This has happened for two reasons.

Reality contradicts the messaging of the captive media, and the media itself is no longer totally controlled.

Liberal democracies have responded by branding counter-liberal information as terrorism, treason or hate speech - and thereby sugaring the pill of censorship.

Elections are cancelled, rerun, and candidates criminalised. Parties offering an alternative to permanent war at home and abroad are branded as extremist.

The centre of machine politics cannot hold its ground, because the liberal system relies on soft and not hard power. It sanctions its own populations but refrains - in the main - from beating, imprisoning and directly killing them.

If it moves too far in this direction it openly discards its image, which is all it has to conceal its true nature. Liberal democracy is the rule by media of a permanent elite, and its elections are designed to prevent this from ever changing.

Tony Blair is now promoting a rapid transition from this form of governance to a total digital state. This would tie your behaviour and opinions to your ability to earn, eat and travel.

Freedom would be reduced to a choice to eat the marshmallow or starve.

The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change is serious about its mission, and it employs over 800 former government leaders, technocrats and specialists to achieve it. The mission is driven not only by Blair’s own messianic zeal - its success or failure is the fate of the liberal system.

Like Blair himself, the liberal-global system sincerely believes in whatever it is saying at the time. This self belief is infectious. A good actor will often say that to play the part well they must first convince themselves of the feeling they wish to convey.

This has been seen recently in the rebranding of global liberalism as the national interest in Canada, in the UK - and in the rerun Romanian election.

Politics is always part performance. Technique is always refining. With the use of technology an algorithm of governance can be developed to replace the Blairite electoral machine - delivering permanent continuity of policy regardless of elections, forever.

It will look like the perfect democracy onscreen. This is the ultimate advert - an illusion which cannot be escaped, an artificial paradise which everyone knows to be false, but in which the price of principled objection will be everything.

In the former East Germany, dissidents had their children taken away by the state to be raised by party loyalists.

Margot Honecker, wife of the German Democratic Republic’s dictator Erich, did this. Here is the “Purple Witch” in 1989 talking about the technique of moulding the young to defend an economic system.

Ours is a time of struggle. It needs youth who can fight to strengthen socialism who can defend it with word and deed - and when necessary - with a weapon in the hand.

Two forms of total state control have dissolved in the last few decades.

Where there are weapons in the hands of young people, they are now often carried and used by the peoples the liberal system has imported into the nations it wishes to replace - with a global consumer marketplace.

It is this reality which is radicalising men, women and children against a system whose only future guarantee of security and order is a digital prison.

The liberal machine also uses word and deed to defend its ideology.

Ideology is an advertisement for an economic model.

The one we live in has reduced peoples to consumers and life to a product, translating all meaning into values reducible to number.

The technique of machine politics is the standardisation of humanity.

If the human can be reduced to the terms and conditions of a permanent online community, social media will be the only society we know. A suspension or ban will have real life consequences which will be experienced but never really seen.

Soft power suffocates in silence those who spit out its sugar-substitutes.

To a dissolving empire, desperate not to lose, the combination of Blairite messaging and technology promise a lifeline which will never run out.

The technique you are now seeing from the liberal remnant is this: we have the answers to the problems we have caused, and for this security you will have to give up your liberty.

It is the latest stage of the permanent war on our civilisation which the liberal system has waged for over a century.

Every one of its wars reduced personal freedom, with belief, behaviour and being snared in an ever decreasing circle. Before the First World War, an Englishman had practically nothing to do with the State outside the Post Office.

Now, throughout the West, there is practically nothing you can do without it.

The machinery of permanent politics is everywhere, in our films, our supermarkets, in codes of conduct, in medical ethics and in the values and standards of the armed forces. It is forever on our screens.

It should be a source of inspiration to you that this total system has not produced total power.

Look at the face of Tony Blair, and that of his acolytes in Britain, Canada, and in the EU. These are not confident expressions. Boasts of visionary strength and swift remedies are no longer convincing. Reality speaks against them, and the time horizon is within sight.

FUTURE POLITICS

Machine politics is having a breakdown, and it can only be replaced - not repaired. The obscene conditions set by the formerly unlimited terms of liberal machine politics are reshaping the political calculus beyond its control.

Will the digital transition come in time to save the old world order?

The state of emergency created by the liberal agenda and its economics of crisis is now being used to promote the digital remedy.

A system designed to prevent meaningful change now urges it with its every act. The marshmallow centre cannot hold.

It is into what, not whether this change will come - and it is within our time that it will certainly arrive.

Introduction - The Evils of Modern Society

The evil of modern society is so prevalent that even atheists and progressives can no longer ignore it.

Our economies foster and monetise dependency and addiction, and the global agenda of the liberal regimes amounts to a total war on our civilisation, often partnered with the waging of wars abroad.

That we are ruled into chaos by the wicked is a fact which unites an increasing number of people in the formerly free world.

How did Christendom fall so fast - into a state in which it is legal to buy and sell AI-edited babies?

The worship of technology is producing a nightmarish vision of hell on earth - governed by algorithm - whilst the artificial means of the production of human life promise to replace mothers and the family.

Today we consider how a remarkable letter from Leo XIII predicted the rottenness of the modern state we are in - and how his remedy - to restore all in Christ - would prove to be more urgent now than ever before.

THE POISON AND THE REMEDY

Before Pope Leo XIII wrote the nine encyclicals of the Catholic Social Teachings, he released an encyclical letter in 1878.

Echoing the great victories at the siege of Malta, at Lepanto - and that of the first Pope Leo who turned back Attila the Hun from Rome, Inscrutabili speaks of

“On the evils affecting modern society: their causes and remedies”.

Pope Leo XIII does not endorse the reduction of human life to a component in global trade1. He does not recommend the dismantling of industrial civilisation.

Nor does he celebrate the acceptance of mortal sin in the lives of those so given to it that their identities are secured in their disordered sexual behaviour.

Leo XIII reminds us of the duty of the Pope - to condemn the defection from the teachings of the Catholic Church, founded by Christ Himself - and to warn men of the damnation they face here and in eternity in their dedication instead to sin.

In this series I have referred to Etienne Gilson’s excellent book on the Catholic Social Teachings, titled The Church Speaks to the Modern World.

It is a complete guide to the nine encyclicals themselves - and adds at the end the letter which began what is now called the Leonine Corpus.

This letter not only shows how the defection from the Church of Christ is the root of all evil in our modern world.

It speaks of a Catholic Church which was fearless and valiant, which won wars against overwhelming odds, and for which heroic men would face death without fear.

The power of the writings of Pope Leo XIII is tremendous.

He was a lion of the faith, worthy of the name of Pope Leo the Great - whose great piety turned back the tide of the Huns.

In the eleven pages of this letter is a call from the deep which could reawaken the West.

Our world is mired in grave moral evil. This serious condition accompanies a culture of public discourse which is unserious beyond the ridiculous.

It is shocking, therefore, to read anything which speaks simply and profoundly to the crisis of our times.

After almost a hundred and fifty years, the modern world described by Leo XIII has become a nihilistic void devouring everything.

The meaning of the Church, the meaning of life, and the meaning of words have all slipped into its black mouth.

See how Inscrutabili opens. Read its list of modern ills. In every case, from the foundation of human understanding to the corruption of the State, the sickness diagnosed here now resembles a terminal condition.

In the liberal world we are ruled by “obstinate minds” which will not recognise even the authority of basic reality.

Political policy agitates and mobilises factions of grievance, whose grievances against the facts of life are stirred into an inverted heroism with calls to save the planet from mankind, to liberate mankind into grave moral evil, and to destroy our nations for the profit of a system so corrupt it relies on digital tyranny to preserve its power.

Such people present themselves as “champions of country, of freedom, of every kind of right”. It is hard to name some moral outrage which has not been championed as a human right.

Since the time of Leo XIII, wrongs have become rights. Political power and the Godless social revolutions it promotes presents the destruction of our Christian civilisation as a creative solution to the human condition.

As Leo XIII says, it is necessary to point out the seriousness of the situation in order to take action to restore what has been lost.

Our world cannot be saved with ecumenical humanism. We need men with the hearts of lions.

THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH - RECIVILISATION

That the Catholic Church should say the rejection of its teachings is the root of all evil in the modern world may come as no surprise to some.

To others it is remarkable the Church would defend its own teachings at all.

This is a case that is explained, however - and not stated as some empty axiom:

Leo XIII says the idea of civilisation is a fantasy if it is not defined in the defence of the truth, the unchanging virtues and the natural justice through which God inspires an order which promotes human flourishing.

How stark is Leo’s warning of annihilation today, when the Church speaks not to the modern world in this way - but speaks for the modern agenda instead?2

Leo XIII says that to see sanely “the age in which we live, so hostile to religion and to the Church of Christ”, is indeed to see

“…our epoch is rushing wildly along the straight road to destruction”.

The mission of the Church is the salvation of souls. Its task is also the defence of the foundations of civilisation, as the replacement of the unchanging principles of truth and justice by nothingness are an insult to God which delivers man into ruin.

There is no civilisation without the Church.

THE FIGHT BEGINS AT HOME

Pope Leo reminds us that the defence of civilisation begins not with the State, but with the family - the basic unit of the nation made in the image of God.

Prayer and family may seem a feeble remedy, until an explanation of the Catholic worldview supplies the large scale effect of Christian marriage and family life.

Pope Leo XIII shows how we may rescue our nations from the mass production of “rotten stock”:

This is a letter which reminds us that overwhelming odds were overcome in the battle at Lepanto through the weapon of the Holy Rosary.

It shows us the poverty of modern life, in its reduction to the “insatiable seeking after self-interest alone”, with our brief days dissolved into the desires of the flesh, the wanting and having of things.

THE CAUSE OF CHRIST IS HEROIC

Correctly understood this letter is a call to arms. How deep is the call is the measure of the depth of those who hear it.

To those who have lived in vain for a cause, this is your fight.

To those who despair, this is your hope.

All is not lost. Everything is at stake. The hour is late.

It is time to take up the Cross. This is the Good Fight. It is for Christ, the Light of the World. Will you stand with Him to beat back the darkness?

This is the question that is hidden in the lines of Pope Leo XIII. Followed by some of the most resplendent wisdom in history, Inscrutabili is the bugle in the morning, calling men from their slumbers to stand to and fight to the end - however their end may come.

In this third post on the economic omnicrisis we inhabit I am going to go on about how our debt system funds a vast and ever expanding dependency culture of administrative bureaucrats who have the power to decree a social death sentence on the sane.

IT’S THE ECONOMY, STUPID

The lanyard class polices belief in the moral theology of Liberalism.

It gatekeeps access to government services and to professional and working life.

If you disagree with the nonsense of equality or (say) with the moral nihilism produced by ever-progressing rights packaged as progress, you face potentially career-ending penalties and social ostracism.

Why does the Lanyard Class enforce the social death penalty for blasphemy against the false idols of the Liberal State Religion?

The manufacture and management of mass belief is produced by the ambition of standardising the world under a standard economics secured by a monopoly on explanatory power. This means the economic system supplies your political, moral and indeed religious beliefs.

We are ruled by rules set and sponsored in messaging from their sponsors, the elite which seeks to profit at our collective loss, and whose international debt model is the reason these mad beliefs are confected and sold as the only respectable opinions.

All of them help to dissolve nations, our history, culture, memory and the meaning of our lives, which can then be replaced with the product lines of international consumer-nihilism on credit.

One example described by Big Time Charlie is “human quantitative easing”, which of course is the economic function of mass migration.

Mass migration is marketed as a human rights issue.

In reality it is simply the supply of ever more hungry consumers to maintain a consumer economy secured on the access to credit.

The economy as is dies without unlimited immigration. With it, our nations die.

This is called progress and if you object to it you are called names and sentenced to social death.

There are reasons for the sponsorship and transmission of these cult beliefs. The sponsors do not believe in them, but it serves their economic vision of a globally standardised world that you believe in them - or else.

In this way many millions of people form a dependency on the supply of beliefs secured by the demands of a lanyard class whose power makes your access to services, employment and promotion contingent on your compliance.

This is a form of command economy wherewith economic opportunity is conditional on the terms set by those issuing the commands.

The liberal-internationalist political economy fosters a mass culture of dependence, far broader than the obvious one of the Lanyard Class itself - whose white collar makework would vanish if there were no international system to sponsor its existence.

To produce dependence by economic and political policy is morally wrong as it is universally degrading to human dignity.

The way our economy is structured requires mass belief in nation-dissolving dogma because it serves the ambition to standardise the world. This is “globalism”, and its religion requires a caste of theocratic adminstrators, which is another way of understanding the Lanyard Class.

Where its power is secured in the hearts and minds of people, it supplies the beliefs which constitute the meaning of their lives and their moral reasoning.

Its magic relies on the belief that what is new is the same as what was normal, and is also better, whilst producing in reality an international nowhereland animated by delusions.

The Lanyard Class as Ideological State Apparatus

The Lanyard Class represent what Althusser would have called in theory an ISA - Ideological State Apparatus - which in practice is an RSA or Repressive State Apparatus.

According to the Marxist Althusser an Ideological State Apparatus maintains social order and reproduces its power through ideology rather than physical force - shaping beliefs, values, and habits to make the existing power structure feel natural and inevitable.

The additional acronym TINA - There Is No Alternative - is a latent belief in the general population which is produced as a large scale effect of this method of dominance managed by the Lanyard Class.

The repressive aspect of the Lanyard Class resides in their power to pronounce a social and career death sentence on any dissidents.

Though the meme which headlines this rather long post is amusing, the effects we suffer in being ruled by John Lanyard Keynesianism are not.

I am describing a system which is financed by massive borrowing to make an increasingly miserable and demoralising life inescapable.

Tax and Spend it on the Lanyard Class

The economics of John Lanyard Keynesianism are destructive.

It takes as axiomatic - a belief requiring no proof beyond its declaration - that taxing the population to fund an ever expanding State is Good.

This belief is invisible because it is mistaken for a basic duty of the State. It is normalised by the Lanyard Class in partnership with the manufactured mass culture which has replaced normal life with the norms of the political economy which sponsors its messaging.

Over the last century the Liberal State has expanded well beyond the capacity of the tax base to fund it, and so government and its progressive, internationalist administration demands vast borrowing to make up the difference between what can be afforded and achieved in reality and fantasy and desire demand instead.

One thing you must have in the latter case is a corps which administers the State religion in their bureaucratic capacity, managing into being a ballooning class of people whose living is made by making yours worth less.

They demand higher borrowing because without it the structure of their lives collapses. They are a white collar dependency culture in the business of justifying their own existence at your expense.

The Lanyard Class enforces the demands of an impossible utopia - a dream which we can neither realise nor afford, as it is based on clear and distinct impressions of things which are simply not real.

What is real, of course, is the scale of the economic crisis this Grand Illusion has produced.

Paying for the lanyard class in public administration requires more borrowing, which rots the value of the money you earn under their humourless supervision and destroys the meaning of your life by making your livelihood dependent on submission to the suicidal new norms it is their duty to install.

Why Work is a Four Letter Word

Work is now largely a joyless activity due to pervasive lanyardism, policed by people whose survival as credible members of society depends directly on the political economy which requires them.

What could these people do if this class were to be defunded? It is unthinkable to the Lanyard Class, as they cannot conceive of a world which sees them as cursemongers on the dole. That is the world we are living in now.

The lanyard class is a debt-financed life support machine for a belief system practically no one but them believes in anymore.

Their lives depend on it, and the life of the rights-based State which discharges none of its duties depends on them in turn.

The Lanyard Class is, like much of our political economy, a Ponzi scheme - running on mandated bullshit and the destruction of the public finances to maintain a death grip on the destiny of our civilisation.

The National Interest Rate

The rate of engagement with what might be in the National Interest is rising.

The way we have been ruled has left us in Britain with a net national debt of around 3 trillion pounds, with annual interest payments on this debt at over £109 billion. In the USA the debt is around $40 trillion.

This is due to the hyperfinancialisation of our lives made necessary by the transition towards a global economic model of universal liberal consumer nihilism.

This financial crisis is going to get worse as global supply chain shocks combine with this international debt crisis to produce the omnicrisis I am on about in this series.

I think the financial crisis that is coming has no defined limits and will change the political calculus in the West completely.

In short, we have been bankrupted morally and financially by the costs of an impossible utopian project to lanyardise the world.

I go on about this here, in a recent speech for Restore Britain in Gateshead. I mention the Lanyard Class at 4:00, and the social death penalty for demanding a sane economics and politics at around 5:20.

A Terminal Crisis

The entire system is terminally unstable. The Lanyard Class is doomed, as they represent an increasingly unpopular subscription model whose terms are responsible for the awful condition of our lives.

If you are sane, it is unsurprising to discover that people who sport nylon nooses as a symbol of authority are perceived as public executioners of the dignity of our lives.

Besides the spiritual and existential dimension to the Lanyard Plague, in an economic meltdown we simply cannot afford to finance an army of fanatics waving a flag for a vanishing empire.

Crisis on this scale concentrates the public mind, and basic necessity will naturally override bizarre conditions for access to dwindling resources.

The populations hectored by this adjacent but distant caste of self-anointed Brahmins are revolting not because they are deplorable, but due to the deplorable condition into which John Lanyard Keynesianism has managed their lives.

The coming crisis will be severe. It will present our people with a life or death decision. This is an historic opportunity to change the system, as only a crisis of this magnitude would make it not only thinkable, but necssary. The question facing us all can be reduced to this:

Do you prefer to suffer more for more of the same, or do you prefer not to?

We will suffer in either case, but in the case I am making we shall suffer to provide an economics that is for and not against us, and to secure a future worth the name for our children.

THE LANYARD CLASS AND THE PERMANENT AGENDA

This agenda of open borders, rainbow flags, war and mass migration continues regardless of elections, eduring by means of the dissolving of ideological continuity into NGOs and a class of apparatchiks - people whose careers and purpose in life depend entirely on the survival of this ideology.

You find these apparatchiks in the media, appearing as “thought leaders” and “influencers”, they pop up in entertainment, and administer public health, education, directing the decisions of professional accreditation bodies, staffing the upper tiers of the military, teaching in the universities,governing the workplace through HR departments.

The Lanyard Class exercise the power of totem and taboo in every public and private body of consequential decision-making capacity. They profess and police the beliefs by which we are ruled, which can be described as the State Religion of Liberal-Globalism.

If you do not believe in this make belief, you will be voodoo cursed into unpersonhood and possibly ruined or even imprisoned.

The unelected Lanyard Class mandate your submission to madness on pain of social death.

The lanyard class is not a joke, nor a vague slur. It is one means by which the State exercises the power of mandatory belief in itself as a condition for the terms it sets for your life.

I think the lanyard class cognate with the apparatchiki of the Soviet Union - people whose careers depend on their defence and transmission of the State religion, and whose livelihoods rely on the survival of the ideology they transmit in whichever administrative role they occupy.

The Lanyard Class cannot be removed by elections contested between liberal parties of the same consensus which the Lanyard Class exists to perpetuate.

One crisis additional to the ones I mention here is the crisis of competence in the Lanyard Class itself, as it selects its membership not on the basis of merit, integrity or ability but on ideological loyalty which reduces to the sanctification of irrational beliefs.

THE UNNATURAL NATURE OF PROGRESSIVE BELIEF

These beliefs become progressively more insane because they are progressive.

This means the beliefs by which we are ruled become more bonkers as a function of time, because to remain the same is to refuse “progress”.

Progressives believe all history has led us to the point in time represented by Progressives and Progress, with human civilisation having therefore no meaning other than the production of the crisis we inhabit today, into which we have been delivered by this revolution of destruction powered by the massification and normalistion of delusion.

The function of the Lanyard Class is to make these delusions durable.

Delusions which endure despite the evidence of reason and experience to the contrary are categorised as mental illness in modern psychiatry.

Of course, an exception is made on the basis of manners to beliefs arising from “cultural or religious background”. Psychiatry is silent on the subject of a mass culture creating mass belief in a range of counter-reality political idols.

This is the State we are in today, with the Lanyard Class acting as a sort of priestly caste to sanctify the captured and profane the sane.

The power of the Lanyard Class can be explained in part by an understanding of the engineering of social revolution.

The effective replacement of the beliefs of our Christian civilisation with rainbow lanyardism is caused in part by the magnification of the role of increasingly ideological bureaucratic administration in social and national life.

This in turn is one effect of another revolution: The Managerial Revolution.

MANAGED INTO MADNESS: FROM BURNHAM TO LANYARDISM

The Lanyard Class is the managerial class of James Burnham plus ideology as State Religion.

The Burnhamite “Managerial Revolution” (1941) was about recognising the rising power of the concept and practice of management in the maximisation of efficiency, which became known as “rationalisation” and later “reform”.

Burnham’s ideas produced an axiomatic belief in management which reduced to the idea of unquestioning deference to managerial decision making.

This in turn partnered with the machine politics of Blairism in pursuing permanent change by means of public policymaking and managerially administered decision making by delegating State sovereignty into unelected bodies to continue the fixed internationalist agenda.

This agenda is transmitted to the general population in the form of secular religious belief.

The lanyard class makes access to employment and to state services conditional on the acceptance, tacit or explicit, of the mandatory belief system of the liberal-global political economy.

These beliefs reduce to superstitions, far more absurd than any unsympathetic reading of the explanation of the nature of being and reality offfered in the traditional teachings of the Church.

THE SUPERSTITIOUS RELIGION OF THE LANYARD CLASS

To study John Lanyard Keynesianism is to study the practical application of the beliefs and ideas supplied by our political economy to make us believe in it - and only in it.

This means you find out there are religious beliefs transmitted and reinforced by people who are nominally paid to serve the public or the interests of the company which employs them.

In practice, the lanyard class apply the idea that ideologically inspired management can solve all social problems by the transmission and enforcement of its administrative and progressive worldview.

This “Please remember not to rape ” leaflet is a good example of the wacky superstitions that the Lanyard Class insist are the terms and conditions of the borderless utopia they believe they are managing into being.

Our access to services and the means of making a living are conditional on accepting fantasy beliefs which “make sense” of the transition to a borderless international bazaar populated by self interested bargain hunters.

The belief illustrated above is that all men are equally capable of liberal enlightenment if sufficient numbers of leaflets are printed.

The liberal idea itself rests on a series of superstitions.

One is the inflexible belief in the moral and intellectual uplift of all humanity as a function of time (progress).

Another is universal human equality, a mandatory delusion which contradicts the obvious and changeless difference in the human distribution of intellect, aptitude, strength, moral sense and the faculties required to realistically conceive of the consequence of actions, to recognise beauty and the divine, and to create the sort of culture which makes life worth living (for example).

Liberal democracy is a weapon of mass destruction delivering moral and spiritual nihilism through the promises of progress and the ever advancing causes of “rights”.

These are not the natural rights of a sane and orderly world view, but the permissioning of wrongs motivated by advertised and manufactured grievance.

Rights-worship simply permissions grave injuries to the common good, replacing the meaning of life with price and personal preference. Taken together, the “rights-based” movements amount to a declaration of war on our entire civilisation, and are an attack on the idea of reality itself, replacing the objective truth, morality and nature of being with a series of perspectives and preferences whose “ethical” status is dictated by a never-ending “progress”.

This means these beliefs must by necessity become ever more extreme, or “progress” stops and we all face the unseemly performance we inhabit.

Without the delirious music of this preposterous view of the imaginary moral purpose of time the very idea of progress in the progressive sense is evidently ridiculous and its product offensive to reason and morality alike.

These ideas are so absurd they cannot survive an honest argument, and that is why you are threatened with the social death penalty if you try to have one.

The Lanyard Class demand you submit to these cult beliefs or face career-ending consequences.

It is widely known in the British Army, for example, that practically no one is promoted beyond the rank of major who refuses to salute the Banner of Satan.

LANYARD LEADERS

Justin Trudeau, Jacinda Ardern, David Cameron, Keir Starmer and Ursula von der Leyen are some obvious examples of John Lanyard Keynesianism in political leadership.

Mark Carney would qualify today, as would anyone such as Andy Burnham who promotes the “fixed” policies of the internationalist agenda, such as the war in Ukraine, financed of course by ever rising debt and obvious damage to our strategic and national interests.

WHY THE LANYARD CLASS SEES NO EVIL IN ITSELF

The Lanyardists do not recognise their belief system as a cult as they are in effect made convicts by the progressive convictions which unite them.

As the fat Stalinist Mr Zizek says,

“When ideology ishz total it issh invishible (sniff)”

For example, this man cannot see the Lanyard Class because he is a member of it, being an academic fellow at a former polytechnic (Teeside “university”).

Mr Gray cannot recognise this fact as he does not believe in religious belief and so cannot see that it is religious belief which unites him with all the otherwise seemingly disparate members of his Lanyard Class.

THE LANYARD CLASS WAR: VENGEANCE ON CIVILISATION

Mr Gray cannot see any of this because like all liberals he likely believes his beliefs are simply “normal” and “natural” and “what all decent people believe”.

He must believe this belief because his livelihood is built on its defence. There is a second reason and that is the fact that Liberals believe themselves better and indeed best because of their liberal beliefs.

Liberals therefore cannot comprehend how anyone can reject their beliefs without being ignorant, nasty or brutish, and so they curse you in unpleasant terms designed to toxify your reputation if you do so.

This of course is chauvinism in the sense of an automatic prejudice rooted in the belief in the superiority of oneself according to group membership.

It is shocking to liberals to discover they are chauvinists and so they don’t.

They do not recognise themselves in the mirror and code negatively any such reflection as might produce an accurate image of their true face.

This is why they call you a bigot or a racist or a nazi if you point out, correctly, that their belief system is not only false but civilisationally suicidal.

When the liberal-global belief system is applied in practice, as through the work of the lanyard class, it is universally destructive to meaning and material wealth alike - being a sort of vengeance by policy on our people and our culture.

This is the meaning of the Lanyard Class War. It is waged by your taxes on everything of value in your life, including the meaning and value of your life.

Happily, I will show why the Lanyard Class is doomed by the developing omnicrisis we inhabit, which is an historic opportunity for real change.

Notes on Mr Keynes

John Maynard Keynes is far more interesting than my reductionist reading of his economic theory as expounded in The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money (1935–36).

He said in that book

“Ideas shape the course of history”

Keynes went on to say which ideas he thought significant.

“The ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong, are more powerful than is commonly understood.”

One reason for this is that in an age when culture is identified with the contents of mass communication it can be readily manipulated to coincide with the concepts convenient to this or that political or economic theory.

The ideas which rule us are bad ideas because they are bad for everyone, producing moral nihilism, dissolving meaning and nations, and delivering us all into living debt.

Making these ideas popular is the role of cultural production.

Making your life conditional upon them is the role of the lanyard class.

The Power of Ideas is the Power of the Lanyard Class

The lanyard class is financed by government borrowing. This class manages and polices your access to government and state services and sets the terms and conditions of your working life.

The lanyard class can and do enforce a social and career death penalty for public heresy against the international rainbow nihilism informally known as “the globalist agenda”.

This means our lives are made joyless and conditional upon adherence to the worship of the idols of our consumer-nihilist political economy, whose every wrong is presented as an unquestionable right.

The ideas shaping the course of our history, present, past and future, are those of the international state religion. The Lanyard Class is a sponsored tier of State and State-aligned ideological bureaucrats whose livelihoods depend on the defence of the political economy of civilisational suicide.

One Lanyard to Rule Them All

Mr Keynes, who was a keen cyclist, went on:

“Indeed the world is ruled by little else. Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influence, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist."

I have argued in the previous post that the ideas supplied by our manufactured culture have been crafted to effectively enslave us, as if by enlightened consent, to an almost defunct economic system which sees mass immigration as a basic necessity.

Perhaps my point does not seem so extraordinary when put beside Mr Keynes’ remark, which is noteworthy for suggesting the power economics wields over the ideas we believe, and not for good reason, that we believe we believe in freely.

The not good reason we believe we have arrived at our beliefs freely is basically vanity. It is embarassing to accept we believe what we do in some cases because we believe in ideas supplied to support the demands of political economists.

I am saying that the religious belief in open borders, the raibow flag, the climate cult, in hysterical progressive cults of grievance advertised as the fight for rights are produced and transmitted as our working and social culture because they align with an economic objective: to standardise and manage the entire world in a single system.

JM Keynes - “Rainbow warrior”?

Keynes probably deserves the rainbow lanyard he sports in this witty meme, as he was in his early adult life an enthusisastic homosexualist, before moving on to affairs with women. He died childless despite marrying the Russian ballerina Lydia Lopokova and spending twenty years with her before his death in 1946.

Origins of the term

The Lanyard Class is a term popularised by Maurice Glasman in 2025, but usage goes back at least ten years.

It commonly denotes the managerial rank of the liberal regime which serves as the interface between the ruling elite and the ruled.

“Lanyardism” is a more recent term, denoting the sort of rule setting and policing which typifies the behaviour of administrators in public health, education, HR departments and the civil service (for example).

The observation that the lanyard class and its ideology (“Lanyardism”) typifies a detachment from those ruled or managed is significant.

Since the Second World War the Liberal State has been against its people and increasingly disconnected from their interests and their thinking.

It has imported by policy the “chaos of global modernity” to replace our way of life.

The Function of The Lanyard Class

The lanyard class occupies every office of every institution to direct the population into submission to an agenda which is at best parallel to their every basic interest, and is presented in total as the only respectable position to hold.

The recognition that state power is inimical to the fundamental demands for a decent life shows that this is a question beyond the forced consensus of party politics which is presented as the pinnacle of democracy.

This is increasingly understood because the actions of this power are so obviously and universally destructive that the effect is to unite anyone not dependent on the State against its permanent agenda.

Maurice Glasman has spoken (at around 3:50 here) about why the Lanyard Class is despised - because they humourlessly police the mismatch between the rhetoric of government and the miserable reality its policies have produced.

Glasman also stresses the disconnection of government from the governed, and in more detail the departure of the Labour Party from the interests and demands of the working class they were founded to represent.

The recognition of the Lanyard Class, its function and its perception by the public is essential to understanding the nihilism of a political economy that relies on mass immigration to survive, against the wishes of the governed, and at the expense of the security, dignity and meaning of their lives.

The crisis we inhabit increasingly resembles the terminal crisis of the international economic model which produced the political consensus normalised throughout our lifetimes.

This economic-politics is policed by a class of nylon-noosed commissars whose existence can only be justified if we accept that our own is secondary to the success of the political economy of national suicide.

This is the reason I think it is important to recognise the existence of the Lanyard Class and the function it performs in securing the power of a system which is clearly not for but against us.

In the second part I will explore how the Lanyard Class came to preserve the permanent agenda of the political economy of liberal internationalism.

I will argue that it mandates belief in irrational superstitions to set the terms and conditions of our increasingly joyless working and social lives, and will explain why the Lanyard Class is blind to its own existence.

ZULUS DEMAND REMIGRATION

There are no Black People in Africa. When you realise this, the narrative of race and migration we are presented dissolves.

At face value this statement seems ridiculous. If you look at how the business of mass migration is going in Africa you will begin to see what I mean about the misnomer of “Black People”.

Later, you will see how the recognition of tribe explains much of the political economy of human trafficking marketed as mass migration - and presented to us as an opportunity to welcome refugees and be strengthened by diversity.

OPERATION DUDULA

The Zulu do not see themselves as “Black People” but as a nation, which means they are a people whose identity is based on kinship, and the meaning and mode of their lives is furnished by the customs and history of their tribe. Since they recognise their nation as their people, they are now defending themselves from replacement in their homelands.

Operation Dudula (“Force Out” or “Pushback” in Isizulu) is a continuing campaign by Zulus to send migrants into South Africa back home.

The predominantly Zulu campaign group have been active since 2021 and chant “Abahambe!” or “Mabahambe!” (“They must go!”) as they burn out migrant houses, set up roadblack ID checks, picket public facilities, and pressurise migrant businesses and traders.

The familiar complaints about migrantion made by Dudula include linking migrants to high native unemployment, rising crime, involvement in drug dealing, and increased demand for already limited housing, jobs, government benefits and services. No one in the West has (so far) called the Zulus “racist” as they are percieved as “Black”, which of course ignores reality completely.

The same reasons are supplied in South Africa for migration as to you: migration leads to lower wages, destruction of working benefits and conditions, and the belief that migrants work harder than natives.

Migration causes the same effects everywhere it is supplied at scale. These effects are taboo to mention in the West, for reasons which are also obvious but also obviously deeply damaging to the ruling consensus. Migration ruins your life, and if you mention that fact - and the fact it is a business - this could wreck the whole show.

The Liberal State profits from the loss you incur in your life, perhaps including the loss of your life, and so do the tribal networks which supply a lot of migrants.

Of course, if you are White, you cannot recognise the interests of your own tribe without penalties. You may suffer a social death sentence for noticing that the profits generated by mass migration come at the loss of your safety, security, status and eventually your nation entirely.

For the same reason you cannot acknowledge that EVERYONE ELSE can (and routinely does) identify with the interests of their tribe.

CONSOLATION PRIZES

Instead, you can pour your need for identity into the vessels of membership and togetherness produced by our mass culture.

These crazes and consumer habits are consolation prizes for the loss of God and the deprivation of your identity as a people with distinct and precious customs, history, homelands and culture.

McCustoms like the worship of diversity or rainbow flags provide a dormitory for your homeless sense of who you are and what your life is supposed to mean.

This is why a lot of white people self organise into Liberal Tribes of political idolatry and personal affiliation.

The Liberal Tribes

The intense feeling invested in the cults of George Floyd and now Jason Arday are one example of membership and belonging provided by irrational beliefs ignoring any wider moral or epistemic structure in reality.

There is the weird feminist cult of dressing up like a character from The Handmaid’s Tale whilst ignoring the fact you are most likely to be raped by the “refugees” the same women say we must welcome.

There are cults of sexual extremism, of mass consumer totemism, of the climate and of the counter-factual history now replacing historical memory.

There was a cult of mask wearing and “vaccine” taking which persecuted the prudent.

These cults are fuelled by displaced longing for belonging and belief - it is religious zealotry for the Godless.

This phenomenon also includes celebrity worship (“Swifties”) and sports team tribes, which are more obviously economic functions processing human appetites of purpose and tribal participation into products.

These are some of the substitute tribes into which you are permitted to invest your identity. Their existence is made necessary by the fact the international economic model requires everything but itself must go in order for it to gain and retain power.

One effect of these tribal beliefs in diversity and diversion is that the real motives behind mass migration are seldom recognised.

SMALL BOAT MIGRATION - A BIGGER PICTURE

Means, method, motive

Small boat migration is the business of people smuggling. It relies on international criminal networks whose supply of the means of transport is partnered with a method made possible by the permissive policies of the Liberal political economy.

This report from 2024 shows the dominant players in this industry of human trafficking.

The business of people smuggling is a tribal custom amongst Kurds from Iraq and Turkish nationals.

Of course, small boat migration is only a fraction of the millions admitted by successive governments in the US, UK and Europe. The transition to a global system and from producer to consumer economies is optimised by the supply of new economic units performing economic activities.

When you realise this is optimal for the consumer economy you realise why the derecognition of your tribal identity is so aggressively promoted. Negative framing, voodoo curses for objecting to being raped and robbed are combined with positive feelgood vibes about large scale demographic replacement. Our new tribe is a rainbow tribe - world citizenship and equal opportunities in the borderless bargain hunt.

It is a free for all, but not all of us are as free to act as the Other.

This is clearly unjust and universally destructive to everything of value in our lives. Why is this being done?

The motives behind these means and methods are dissimilar, but the product in both cases is profit. The Liberal political economy recieves an unlimited supply of consumers, and the suppliers make bank. This is a morally nihilist view of life, and it is startling to see for the first time.

All that matters is that there are more consumers doing more consuming. How and what they consume is of no interest to the interest raters who manage our political economy. The only line that must not be crossed is the bottom line. There are no borders morally nor internationally. It is a life with no meaning, whose purpose is dissolved into promotional campaigns for civilisational suicide and other special offers.

If you recognise the reality of this business model you realise what it is.

This is the reason why the tribal aspect of mass migration is submerged in a babble of rights-based legal restrictions, financial costs and voodoo curses.

Tribes and tribulations of small boat migration

There is an obvious tribal element to the small boats business. That this is not widely known shows you how and why the mention of basic facts about reality is taboo.

The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) has identified tribal networks in the business of supplying small boat migrants to help our Liberal leaders make the GDP Line Go Up.

The line which describes the rate of this demanded supply also tends to go up.

Supplying migrants by boat is a business. The migrants pay to be transported into Britain and the people they are paying largely come from a single tribe.

REFUGEES PEOPLE SMUGGLING WELCOME?

We are used to hearing a manufactured tribal chant of “refugees welcome”. What is this feelgood advertising jingle actually welcoming?

The NCA describes small boat migration as a “people smuggling” trade and says it is dominated by a very specific group of Kurds from around a town and district called Ranya in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

A 2024 Chatham House report said Iraqi Kurdistan was “where the smuggling network was rooted”.

This fact will remain invisible to you if all you see are “Muslims” or “Arabs” in the Middle East (or “West Asia” as it is now often known).

If you begin to recognise tribal realities, you eventually realise you cannot solve the problem without this recognition, and that this crisis and its concealment threatens the existence of your own tribe.

Small boats crisis - the Turkish role

The decisive logistical role played by Turkish criminal networks in supplying this means of mass migration is also noted by Europol and the British NCA.

The Hungarian Conservative report notes the scale of this industry.

A gang of four boat suppliers was exposed and prosecuted by Eurojust in March 2026, showing how boats purchased from China were supplied through Turkey to networks in Germany and then to Northern France.

The boats cost around 10 000 euros and generate around 100 000 euros in revenue when filled with paying passengers.

Small boats also arrive in other European nations, like Italy and Spain for example.

SENSITIVE INFORMATION

The role of Turkish nationals in supplying small boats for cross-channel human trafficking is sensitive to mention. Turkey is the largest military power in NATO after the United States, and its State has used mass migration as a strategic weapon in releasing millions of migrants into Europe to create the 2015 migration crisis.

Over 41 000 migrants entered the UK in this way in 2025. The report above noted that Adam Savas described himself as “the king of transport and export” in the small boat migrant business, saying he worked with corrupt Turkish police to secure his market share.

He is said to have supplied half the boats used in cross channel migration. Savas was caught following an investigation into the Kurdish crime boss Hewa Rahimpur, who was of course living in East London having claimed asylum after arriving illegally in a lorry.

This particular culture of crime is self perpetuating and is made possible by a structure of political permissions made by Western governments.

Rahimpur was seen the sort of model migrant presented as the example of integration - a man who worked hard in a kiosk to get by.

His first business was a barber shop.

In reality he owned many “expensive properties” in his native land and realised the economic potential of the people smuggling business as he had arrived by means of it himself.

People smuggling is a custom of his Kurdish tribe. It is a custom of the Turks, too.

They are sourcing and supplying new customers for their own businesses and for the consumer nihilist economies which are consuming our nations and producing a borderless global bazaar run by crooks in their place.

The BBC report notes that there were over 100 000 men like Rahimpur housed in the UK last December.

We are paying taxes to fund the lifestyles of the tribes who supply our demographic replacement, and these tribes are not acting in your interest.

These tribes are the political and establishment class of the liberal-global economic model partnered in crimes against you with ethnic tribes from overseas.

DON’T MENTION THE TURKS

NATO, the US, EU and Britain rely on retaining Turkey’s strategic and military significance within their aligned sphere of influence.

The Turkish leader Erdogan has proven adept at leveraging migration as a means of securing Turkish power at a time of increasing instability in the Middle East - and it now faces overt threats from an Israel interdigitated with US military and political power.

It is diplomatically and strategically risky to point out that both the Turkish State and some of its people play a major role in supplying migrants to Europe. To fail to do so is again to derecognise tribal interests. The Turks are also a people, they have their customs and their ambitions in the world, and the business of migration is one form of

Of course, the same mirror image of this partnership between politics and private enterprise is found in the West too.

State level actors and governments permission the criminal networks powering mass migration for economic reasons. This industry is presented as a sort of human rights issue, framed in the same language of inclusion, tolerance and virtue that as the transgender industry. These wrongs are presented as the defence of rights, when in fact the motive is profit (and loss).

BLAME WHITEY INSTEAD

Liberal critiques of the crisis are precise on the means and methods.

They ascribe the motive to economic hardship in KwaZulu Natal arising from the economic dominance of White South Africans.

In the case of the Kurdish role in the people smuggling or human trafficking business, the 2003 Iraq war is cited as the root cause of again1 - economic hardship which is always and ever the only reason that other tribes do beastly things to yours.

Of course, the tribe which wants constant wars in the Middle East is not yours, either - but you pay the price of the instability and criminal industry which radiates from decades of military action to reshape the region.

In the Liberal State Religion the cause of crime is always said to be economic inequality created by White Men, and the only cause for criminal activity by people who are not White is therefore White people themselves - who are in reality the victims of these crimes in person and at scale2.

This means you must pay for the crimes committed against you with ever higher taxes and ever lower living standards. This is the calculus of our political economy translated into plain English.

I hope you can now understand some deeper structure of the geopolitical, economic and demographic crisis created by the machine constructed to manage us into this for-profit permanent state of emergency.

The West faces an omnicrisis which will change its political and economic calculus.

In this post I begin a brief series on the crisis we inhabit, its causes and the consequences for the consensus in economics and politics which created them.

As I am travelling home this first post will be brief. I begin this series with a mention of a report on the structural economic crisis which looks very likely to seriously affect Western economies and the wider global food and fuel supply chain.

I also include commentary in this video as to how this crisis is being presented as a result of climate change, pushing into the background the structural reasons for the debt, bond and supply chain factors which are driving the cost of food and fuel ever upwards.

In brief, the “structural” element of this crisis is the structure of the political economy which created it - the international liberal order whose globalist ambitions accelerated after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The main structural factors in the economic sense are the 2008 banking crisis, the sovereign debt crisis of the EU, the enormous cost of lockdowns which dwarfed both of these in magnitude, and the disastrous wars which have severely limited global supplies of food, fuel and fertiliser.

The structural problem is the way our economy and politics are structured. The system is what is does, and what it is doing is producing an economic, diplomatic and existential-demographic doom loop as a matter of necessity according to the demands of its own model. The crisis we inhabit is the product of the way we are ruled. At base is the replacement of wealth with debt.

The foundation of the international-liberal political economy is the debt issuance model of State financing which has been the basis of the international liberal order since it was pioneered by the Federal Reserve, whose fractional reserve banking was exported around the liberal international order installed after its creation before the Great War.

I will argue that the manufactured consensus of the liberal agenda which has ruled our nations under this system is breaking down as it has in fact created by economic practice and political policy a series of crises it can no longer contain.

I will examine why despite the refinement and advancement of its technique of cultural propaganda it can no longer secure belief in its own system by means of making it through the transmission of sponsored messaging in al dimensions of our cultural and social life.

In brief, the reality created by this failed experiment to standardise the world under a single global system is the reason it is now disintegrating and cannot be recovered.

This process is inexorable now and it is one which offers the oppotunity -in my view an existential necessity - to change the economic and political calculus completely in order that we do not all go down with its sinking ship.

Here is my final post - for now - on the poem Burnt Norton by TS Eliot.

In it I include some clips from the longer videos I published last Friday by way of introducing the poem, which I go on to read out in parts.

The reason I am doing this is because Eliot’s work and life in general and this poem in particular can help you to understand what is wrong with our world and what is missing from our lives - and how to restore it all.

We are encouraged to consider all the wisdom of our culture, religion and ancestors as the work of a bunch of outmoded fuddy-duddies having no value beyond a grotesque historical curiosity.

This is because that wisdom is superior to the trash we are supplied in its place today - a point which I think is amply demonstrated in Eliot’s Burnt Norton.

It is a poem about the destruction that is sin, that we may freely choose it or redemption. It presents an alternative to the condition of modern man who is liberated from objective morality and meaning into the trap of the self.

This, of course, is called progress today.

THE CULT OF PROGRESS

One reason the progressive cult of the self wishes to do away with all the old ways is they led us to the truth - and not towards its contradiction.

This is the reason anything true about mankind and his nature is coded as outrageous and outmoded, as all our beliefs are to be supplied by a system which makes belief in itself.

What are these beliefs? What do they mean for us in politics, economics and religion, and why are they not true?

These questions are profound and are essential to understanding what is meant by civilisation, what has been lost in our modern mass culture, and how we might restore it.

Equality, morality, progress

The project of standardising the world into a single global system requires a sort of artificial culture to be manufactured, which replaces reality based beliefs with fantasies convenient to standardisation of belief, custom, culture and religion.

One of these is equality. We are told all men and women are equal, which is not true. We are told all customs and cultures are of equal civilisational value, and all morality and indeed what is taken to be true is simply a matter of preference.

We are told it is a virtue to believe that no preference is superior to another as all is merely perspective, and there is no ultimate reality, truth or nature of being against which to measure them.

The political belief in equality equalises us all into a universal nothing, qualified only by the desires mobilised by the cultural production of products to excite and match them.

I went on about how modernity limits and does not liberate man here:

We are sold into this one dimensional manhood by promises of equality, which results in the equalisation of the wicked with the just, the foolish with the wise, the ignorant with the informed and the prudent with the incontinent. It is a fool’s paradise which leaves us with nothing to believe in but ourselves - and our self is simply a product of the beliefs which supply us into this profound moral, cultural, intellectual and spiritual poverty called progress.

Some effects of this cause

The beliefs made commonplaces in our artificial culture produce a collective limitation of the perspective and value of human life. It is basically limited to the product line of modern belief.

Here I explained how modern “ethics” are an example of the way down for Man generally, debasing him by means of the production of an arithmetic of desire as a replacement for objective moral truth.

Equality is a false idol. The idolatry of equality deprives us of the fact that some men see farther than others and that many simply cannot see at all.

This is one way of making the world blind to moral evil and to the production of destruction in the name of progress. It is combined with the babble of modern communication, which saturates our inner lives with a constant stream of unedited perspectives refined by an algorithm designed to produce maximum absorption of attention, resulting in a sort of dependency on the neurochemical reward secured by rejecting reality for the visions of the black mirror.

This is what is trilling in the wire in the blood in Eliot’s Burnt Norton.

What is trilling in the wire in our blood is the way down. What is the way up?

There is a lesson for the restoration of the meaning and purpose of our lives in this great poem, which is why I recommend you struggle to understand it.

Eliot’s poem is significant for many reasons.

One is the presentation of the fullness of human life afforded by the re-recognition of the supernatural, which leads us to Christ, against the lifelong paroxysm of Prufrock whose permanent paralysis of indecision and purposeless anguish is typical of the atheist Modern condition of Man.

This is why you should read Eliot, as I explain here:

The poem as poetry changes its metre and music, shifting us from the outside immediate world, into the internal world of man’s trilling blood, and out again into the vast expanse of an eternity whose sense is only to be calibrated by the landmark in our history that is Christ.

Burnt Norton is a breathtaking vision of the ultimate reality which we so often disremember due to our absorption in what we call our selves.

This is what awaits us in later parts of the poem, and is also found in its conclusion which I read out here:

To glimpse the world as presented in Burnt Norton is to be enthralled by the ultimate reality which Eliot’s bird says humankind cannot too much bear.

It is better to try to bear this reality than not, as the alternative is the prison of the self, circumscribed by its insatiable desires, in a state of internal exile from the glory of all there is beyond us and our petty little revisions.

The work of Eliot can help you nourish your soul amidst a culture which is doing its utmost to encourage you to dispose of it, as I argue here:

I am trying to help you look beyond yourself and the terrible fool’s bargain of the liberal modern condition to what is in fact reality. This will help you to understand that the counter-civilisational revolution we inhabit is basically an argument with reality, and that is why is it falling apart - as reality is permanent, and though so also is the folly of man, his monuments to himself do not endure because they are erected on vain fantasies which are clearly incapable of explaining our being in the world, its timeless and changeless nature, and can certainly never replace it.

The limits of the cult of Man are visible in the failed religions of himself he has invented in the last century, the last of which is the one we inhabit - Liberalism.

In Church and State we are presented with the worship of the idols of this counter-reality and counter-civilisational cult, whose refusal to accept the limits of the changeless nature of man and of reality have produced a conflict with those limits it can neither contain nor control.

The history of the revolutionary cult of man is ending not in the victory proclaimed by Fukuyama but in a tragic farce. Eliot’s life and work help you understand what a religion of man really is, and how and why it is utterly destructive to the meaning of your life and its order.

Burnt Norton will help you to see what has always been there, but which has been subtracted from your picture of yourself and the world by the manufacture of mass belief in alternatives to the truth convenient for the aims of the ruling elite, whose machinery of crisis management is finally breaking down.

The life and work of TS Eliot is an example of a profound mind successfully struggling to recognise and escape the isolated condition of Modern Man.

Here I explain why you may find his work valuable in understanding how the modern cult of the self limits human life to its limitations.

It is my hope to provide some deep understanding of the state we are in so that you may benefit from the sort of wisdom which is absent from our mass culture today.

I explain why I think Eliot’s life and work are valuable to understanding our current condition here:

Eliot’s first major poem - The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock - was published in 1917. It describes a young man who becomes painfully aware of a world beyond himself that he cannot access. Paralysed by indecision and the fear of death, he laments the poverty of a life circumscribed by his own limitations.

Almost 20 years later Eliot published Burnt Norton - one of his Four Quartets. This poem shows how Eliot escaped the trap of modernity, presented as liberation, following his conversion to Anglo-Catholicism.

The Eliot of Burnt Norton moves beyond the personal limits of Prufrock to examine the inner and outer life that is realised in the recognition of the incarnation of Christ as the landmark in the history of mankind.

I explain in these videos why this matters - how Eliot examines the nature of our being and of time, echoing Aristotle and presenting a view of mankind in his totality - from the lymph and blood which makes his body, through the inner life of his thoughts and out into the ultimate reality of the world.

This is a world of immediate and then timeless place and purpose, whose magnitude dwarfs the speck of sensation in which Prufrock suffers his predicament.

I hope you find this example of Eliot’s life as useful to yours as it has been to mine.

In this part I show how Eliot’s difficulty is beautifully explanatory. The opening note of the poem is a quote from Heraklitos which shows how the loss of God delivers man into a prison described as liberation and reduces his life to a brief moment bereft of meaning beyond his immediate desires - detaching us from the eternal, and from the objective truth of the reality and nature of being.

Part Five - The Way Up and the Way Down - Two Types of Art and Culture

In this part I further explain Eliot’s second quote from Heraklitos showing how it also refers to the two types of art explained by Kenneth Clark in his book, Civilisation.

The art of the Apollo of the Belvedere is full of light, and looks upward and outward from Man to a higher spiritual purpose.

The African mask, said Clark, is an art of darkness and of the interior world of man - full of totem and taboo.

The way up and the way down are the same because Man has a choice.

He can reject the world outside himself and substitute its meaning for his own, or he can seek the truth beyond himself. This moves us toward a definition of civilisation versus barbarism. It helps us to recognise the modern condition as a barbarising culture of the self versus the higher spiritual purpose of mankind and the attendant essential value and meaning of his life.

In the next part I read out some parts of Burnt Norton and explain how Eliot’s poem reveals the vast majesty of of being and reality which is denied to us by the fool’s bargain of modern “liberation” into a world only of the Self.

“Authority is nothing else but numbers and the sum total of material forces” -

This is one of the errors of the modern world as stated by Blessed Pope Pius IX in his 1862 allocution, Maxima Quodem.

Two years later, Blessed Pope Pius IX would publish his 1864 “Syllabus of Errors” - as an appendix to his encyclical Quanta Cura.

The Syllabus Errorum as it is titled in Latin also contained the above line about power.

Stated with deceptive simplicity, this error when examined unfolds the conflict between the natural law defended by the Church - and the reduction of all meaning to the limits and desires of Man under the banner of “progress”.

This post also presents a brief history of the subtraction of Christ from Christendom, and His replacement with the political beliefs of liberalism.

Today, the Vatican is seeking to transform the Church into a democratic liberal entity by way of the synodal path.

This is to refashion the Church in the image of Man’s institutions - patterned on the European Union and the United Nations - so that the Church itself will resemble a liberal democracy.

THE LIBERAL PROJECT

As I have explained in my Brief History of Liberal Democracy, this system is merely presented as one offering universal empowerment.

In reality it is the realisation of Isaiah Berlin’s second type of liberal government: the rule by an elite which decides what the ruled shall believe and desire through the manufacture of consent.

Of course, liberal democracy presents its authority as legitimised by majority opinion. In reality, public opinion is made by the ruling elite, in a soft despotism whose power is secured by the making and marketing of belief.

This is how the sacred majority of democratic rule is contrived, and its legitimacy - claimed by the “sum of numbers” - is a falsehood.

The power of liberal democracy is secured in fact by the “sum total of material forces” as explained by Pope Pius IX. These forces are the control of positions of power, of patronage, partnership with NGOs and sinecures - and of course in the domination of media messaging.

I attempt here to explain a wider context showing how we came to have a modern Vatican which preaches the political religion of climate, migration, feminism and the rainbow flag.

The broader liberal current has resolved into a project, political and religious, to replace everything with itself in Church as in State, in imagination as in reality.

It is the replacement of reality with a tragedy of errors. This series will show these errors, and how they are to be corrected.

THE LIBERAL CURRENT IN THE LATE 19TH CENTURY

The Syllabus of 1864 is a list of statements taken to be true by the enemies of the Church, and warns of the modernising current of liberalism infecting Church and State.

Shortly afterwards, a sort of manifesto for the promotion of these errors would be published by a man called Matthew Arnold.

Arnold foresaw the increasing liberalisation of Christendom - and like the great Popes Pius IX, Leo XIII, and Pius X, recognised that the predictable replacement of largely Catholic monarchies with liberal democracy in Europe would lead to chaos.

In his essays of 1867-8, Arnold laid out the thesis that would be published in his 1869 book Culture and Anarchy.

In it, he argued that the new liberal democratic world must be unified by culture - instead of Christ.

TS ELIOT ON CULTURE VERSUS CHRIST

I will also make occasional mention of the work of TS Eliot, whose conversion to Anglo-Catholicism saw him produce some remarkable contributions to the history of the liberal idea and its impact on our civilisation.

In his Notes Towards the Definition of Culture Eliot pointed out that one thing simply cannot replace another - as it is of course a different thing we are to accept as the same.

This sort of observation is typical of wisdom. It appears at face value to be superficial, but once examined and applied reveals a profound insight into the concepts by which our modern culture is contrived.

What binds our modern culture - and within which limitations?

Eliot was referring to Matthew Arnold’s notion that “culture” can be supplied in place of Christ, to provide cohesion against the possibility of a democratised chaos.

His remark is perhaps even more profound when we consider the presentation of the New Religion as a fitting replacement for the True Religion.

What is lost is Christ, what remains is simply the designs of men who think it in our best interests to dispose of Him, and preach an ecumenical and Godless humanism in His stead.

FEEDING THE FLOCK - PASCENDI OF POPE PIUS X

In this introduction I aimed to explain how the crisis of our times developed, tracing its advancement from the late 19th century to the predicament we inhabit.

No sickness can be cured without an accurate diagnosis.

With the 1864 Syllabus of Errors we see a list of falsehoods asserted as truth. These are the green shoots of the modern evils we call the new normal today, springing from the soil of the revolutionary Enlightenment.

Over forty years later, in Pascendi Dominici Gregis, we find in the 1907 encyclical of Pope St Pius X a comprehensive treatment of modernism - its errors, their causes - and the remedies provided by the wisdom of the Church.

With the background of the liberal current in mind I will move in the next posts to a treatment of Pascendi, showing how its warnings came alongside the formation of the liberal democratic project.

This great encyclical is intimidating in its volume and in its detail. Those who hear of it are often put off by its complexity. For this reason I will use the Catechism of Modernism of Fr. Lemius.

This book presents Pascendi as a series of questions, posed on behalf of the reader, with the answers supplied by the words of Pope St Pius X. It makes of this somehwat daunting encyclical a conversation between the reader and the treasure house of wisdom found in the Catholic description of reality.

It is absorbing in every sentence. At times, something greater moves into sight than the particular subject of each passage. For me, one example of this is the profound lesson of the difference between civilisation and culture, which is marked by the absence or presence of God in the boundaries and limitations which mark our lives.

The liberal democratic model produced the political religion of liberalism, a series of tragic errors which have resolved into the catastrophe we are compelled to call our culture today.

The liberation it promised was the binding of man and the meaning of his life to the limitations of the liberal idea.

There is another way to live. There is a better way. The Catechism of Modernism reveals the design of the modern trap, and the way out.

As I examine the diagnosis and remedy presented in Pascendi, we will walk together down a path our culture did not take, and see why in so doing we have lost almost everything.

Almost. And not forever.

In this fourth post on Phone Age Insanity I will briefly introduce two ideas about social reality which will help you understand why we seem to live parallel lives with so many of our people.

These ideas are of Emic and Etic Reality.

Emic reality is the perception of reality from inside a cultural system.

Etic reality is the view of that system from the outside.

I will say a few things about these ideas to show you how they might be useful when you apply them to your own understanding of the social reality you inhabit.

Briefly, the political economy which produces our insane belief system is demonstrably insane when viewed from outside its bubble, and increasingly so from within it, too.

These concepts help you to understand how we came to inhabit a manufactured culture which presents civilisational suicide as a normal and healthy agenda.

They may help you or people you know to detransition from this destructive mass belief system before it is too late for you, or for all of us, to do so.

Origins of the terms

Emic and etic come from phonemic and phonetic. They describe a particular or insider view against the general or outsider view.

A phoneme is a part of a word that has a specific meaning in a given language. Like “Anti-” or “pro-” for example.

Phonetic sounds are seen as universal. The “t” sound, or the “sh” sound, for example.

These terms were used by the linguist Kenneth Pike from 1954. He was a Presbyterian Christian, and believed that truth was personally found in Christ.

He thought reality was unitary when understood as God’s creation, and presented the emic and etic views of cultural behaviour as necessary to providing a complete understanding.

Pike showed an apparently discordant world was in fact coherent when correctly understood, being ordered by God and comprehended by the recognition of the unity of human experience, expression and existence this implies.

Some said this distinction was between subjective and objective views of reality.

I think it more helpful at first to stick with the basic idea that a cultural system is not visible to those inside it in the same way as it is to those outside it.

Pike’s point is that you can’t understand what a culture is with only one view. You must look at it from the inside and from the outside to get the full picture.

If you do this to the culture you inhabit you may understand it more fully.

Uses of these points of view

The terms were popularised in the 1950s and 1960s as liberal anthropoligists struggled to reconcile their discoveries of native cultures with the norms of the West.

Liberals reject Christ and do not recognise that the nature of Man, of being and reality, is changeless. For liberals objectivity is problematic. A doctrine of universal equality means there can be only perspectives instead. This is why our mass culture says there is no objective truth, morality or reality.

If you state some cultures are objectively inferior morally and spiritually, intellectually and culturally and so on, you will destroy your career and no one will publish your work. This is one custom of the Liberal tribe.

Customs of the Liberal Tribe

The customs of the Liberal tribe dictate a preference for the emic approach over the etic. The inside view of the individual is paramount, giving rise to a cultural norm of trans-sanity.

This is why it is socially acceptable today for a man to pretend he is a woman or an African to pretend he is an Irishman. No wider reference is given other than the personally view.

The emic has been internalised to the total exclusion of the etic: there are no general rules, there is no objective reality - only what is believed inside the believer and their belief system.

Other cultures will be presented without context from within their own belief systems and fetishised. The resulting fetish can be used as a weapon against Western civilisation and its Christian moral and cultural norms.

This is an unbalanced approach as it discards the coherence of Pike’s recommended partnership of combined insider and outsider views. Insider views absent outside context offer a limited if fascinating glimpse of another world. The absence of etic context permits fantasy to fill the gap, making any culture treated in this way a marvellous spectacle whose appeal is magnified by the viewer’s imagination and desire.

The cultural power of the emic point of view

What we accept as settled social and cultural research is often constrained by this type of emic reality framing. This style of cultural production presents a partially sighted view as perfectly free of prejudice.

The “wisdom” created by this locked machine will only allow input and output which align with its aims. Here is one example from around a century ago.

Mead’s 1928 book Coming of Age in Samoa: A Psychological Study of Primitive Youth for Western Civilisation was an early example of a uniquely emic perspectivism. This meant Mead tried to show the sexual practices of the Samoans from their cultural point of view, arguing the “storm and stress” of adolescence in Western girls was a product of sexual repression.

If our girls were are sexually “liberated” as those of the Samoans their youth and young adulthood would be happier. The idea continues that of Freud and Reich et al, who diagonosed normal sexual morality as a disease to be cured by “sexual freedom”. When you consider how hypersexualisation and extreme sexualities are presented as liberating today, you can also see how this notion has been rolled into the technique which produces our political and social reality.

Mead’s work was one example of using a purely emic view to present our culture as ignorant and sick, and the so-called more primitive culture of the Samoans as wise, enlightened and healthy. All we had to do to get better was to abandon the moral norms inherited from Christianity.

This too is an element of the technique which rules us. It is the inversion of reality. What is less is presented as more, what is worse - better. Backwards is forwards, vice is virtue and so on.

If Mead’s view was balanced with an etic view it would be better understood. This means, if Mead’s motivated reading of Samoan culture was presented alongside the ideas and beliefs of Mead’s own “tribe” we would have a fuller picture of reality, which would show the motives behind the presentation of Christian morality and norms as bad - and their destruction a panacea.

The broader view of the tribal beliefs of the liberal progressives is that they align with the goal of global standardisation. This is one etic view which helps you explain seemingly disconnected processes. If they destroy nations, peoples, your religion, history, culture and understanding of reality, this all helps to dissolve everyone and everything into a single global system.

What is the use of “Emic” and “Etic”?

The emic and etic framing of reality is most useful when applied to our own mass culture, which has been manufactured to make us all believe in the Liberal Belief System (L-B.S.)

When we look at our mass culture from the outsider perspective it looks very different from the view it presents to we who have grown up inside it.

In fact, it looks as insane as it is in reality. It does not appear insane if your entire life is shaped and submerged in the pseudo reality of a mass culture produced with advanced communications technology. All you have to do is step out of the display and look at it as if you were a visitor from elsewhere.

That “elsewhere” could be a place, a time, or a completely different point of view.

Three outsider views

There are "etic” or outsider views we can adopt to do this.

One is to consider how we look to peoples and cultures outside the “Western Bubble”.

To Western Liberal Believers it is a shock to be reminded that peoples exist in tribes, and tribes have particular customs. This is obvious to anyone who has not been schooled to be incapable of recognising it.

This means the Western Liberal eye is an evil eye - its gaze is limited by the designation of totem and tabu. You are not permitted to see reality. You are permitted to see totems. A totem is a cult symbol of something to be worshipped.

To people who have not been indoctrinated by Liberal doctrine human difference is a basic fact of reality and the assertion of the opposite ridiculous.

Another is to consider viewpoints of culture and indeed of liberalism itself from outside the bubble of liberal cultural production.

This is to study writers and ideas which supply other ways of seeing the world, and the social reality engineered by the liberal system.

I would suggest you read “Liberalism is A Sin” or some of the works of Joseph de Maistre. For a conceptual treatment of why liberalism collapses in insoluble paradox, you could look at “Why Liberalism Failed” by Patrick Deneen.

To my mind, the best treatment of the Liberal idea in its revolutionary and counter-sane dimension is presented in the Catholic Social Teaching of Leo XIII.

Finally, you can look at the culture produced to make us all believe in the liberal international system from the point of view of the civilisational timescale.

Consider whether the worship of false idols such as the progress of the progressives, universal human equality and the replacement of the nature of reality with the power of make belief creates a system which will remain stable over centuries.

This is to think of a system in terms of the civilisational timescale.

Will the liberal belief system guarantee the survival of our civilisation over time?

Coherence and its contradiction

Viewed from the inside our mass culture no longer makes sense. It is a litany of contradictions of reality, a cacophony of countersanities.

From the outside it is completely incoherent. It does not match the world, it refuses to recognise reality, it acts as if reality can be remade in its own image, it is increasingly irrelevant to anyone outside its shrinking sphere of influence.

This is an economic and political system whose ideological beliefs have translated into the production of incoherence.

If you want to live an orderly, meaningful and valuable life a coherent view of being and reality is better than its opposite.

Try to find the most complete view of life, the world, and of human affairs which satisfies this description and test it against the competition.

WHAT IS OVERSOCIALISATION?

When people learn to adjust to others and to function in a society this is called socialisation. We also do it to puppies to train them how to behave well.

Socialisation is about learning the rules of social behaviour so you can fit in and have a happy, orderly life.

Oversocialisation is a term created to describe the adjustment to rules which are destructive to the self and to society. When you see people believing in mad things which wreck their lives as well as yours, you are looking at the effect of oversocialisation.

EXAMPLES OF OVERSOCIALISATION

Oversocialisation is why White people are more terrified of being called racist than of being demographically replaced. It is why thirdworldisation and moral collapse is celebrated as enlightened progress.

It is why White Liberal Women welcome the migrants who disproportionately rape and murder them and their children, it is why police officers genuflect to George Floyd rioters, it is why many people applaud the permanent wars which drive mass migration.

It is why you will be demonised if you do not support Israel or Ukraine. Oversocialisation is not just a leftwing phenomenon.

It is present whenever someone has internalised the memes of the international management as the basis of their personality. It makes people valorise Evil and demonise Good, making the persecution of the truth a good career move.

WHERE DOES THIS COME FROM?

Our mass culture can be understood as a form of total propaganda.

Messages are bundled with every policy and product we peruse and purchase. This messaging is sometimes called “the rule by media”. It is sponsored by financial and political interests whose common aim is to fold the world into one uniform system.

To be oversocialised is to be conditioned to accept the propaganda morality of the internationalist agenda in exchange for your instincts.

Totems such as the Rainbow Flag, open borders, diversity as a strength, the Net Zero agenda and the merits of lockdowns and “vaccines” are routinely promoted throughout every aspect of our mass culture.

“I stand with” the latest war is another example.

These sponsored messages are designed to replace your own judgement about what is good for you, for society, for your children, and what is Good and Evil generally speaking.

These New Values are not just an example of moral inversion - presenting evil as good and vice as virtue.

They replace your disgust reflex, self preservation and rightful indignation at obvious wrongs with a penal system of virtue signals plus the promise of social death for dissent.

THOUGHTCRIME AND PUNISHMENT

The process of oversocialisation is one effect of the refinement of the political technique of the 20th century, which can be summarised as the rule by media.

It does not persuade you with arguments in its advertising, but removes the capacity to argue completely. It switches out your decision making capacity with the fear of being punished for committing and then voicing thoughtcrimes.

This is not a bargain you by into - but a production line of blackmail. You are free to suffer the consequences of refusing these special offers.

The oversocialised are programmed by the algorithm of the ruling regime, whose goal is to dissolve everything into its standard global management model. Sanity, morality, instinct, family and national loyalty, and the capacity to reject broadcasted messages of forced compliance are all obstacles to this end.

The internationalist agenda will destroy your nation, your dignity, and you.

If you reject it you pay a terrible psychological and emotional price. You may experience social death as your friends and family disown you.

To be oversocialised is to have your best interests replaced by the worst.

It is to surrender to the memes produced by our mass culture, which is the governing machinery that transmits the liberal state religion.

The concept of oversocialisation reveals the profound evil of the system which rules us into compliance with the political economy of civilisational suicide.

INTERNAL EXILE

The fear of internal exile is a major selling point for the sale of your soul. The beliefs you internalise are supplied to you as a replacement religion.

This is why you often see unstable and hysterical people at the forefront of whichever mad cult has claimed them with a promise of unearned privilege and the power to condemn the sane and the wise.

You may find yourself having to wear a mask to avoid internal exile.

Most of us will be familiar with the experience of meeting people who have completely deranged beliefs and who present themselves as normal.

The intention is to frame anyone who disagrees with the voices transmitted into their head as a loony. This means you.

It is hard to remain calm when this happens. It is hard not to cave in and signal compliance. Responding normally - with outrage or ridicule - can cost you your ability to earn a living.

HOW NOT TO HATE YOURSELF

Do not be ashamed if you have to nod along with the mandatory insanity to pay your bills. If your friends and family have all been transitioned into loyal consumers of the products of this industrial scale delusion machine do not destroy your relationships by trying to argue with them.

Argument, debate and reason are encouraged by the regime because it makes its captive audience see you as the villain.

You will change only one aspect of their mind - the one that codes you as friend or enemy.

Remember to the oversocialised their beliefs are not freely chosen but implanted on conditional fear and ostracism. If you question these beliefs you are not discussing the merits of a position but attacking what has become the foundation of their personality.

If you make a friendly attempt to save them you will be seen as an enemy who is attacking who and what they are and trying to take away the basis of the meaning of their lives.

This is terrible, and it reveals the profound evil at the base of the process of oversocialisation. It has switched out the identity of the person for a standardising substitute. The subject defends their downloaded identity against any intrusion, policing their own imprisonment and framing attempts at help as harm.

This is why you should proceed with caution if you attempt to detransition your friends and family or any other casualties of this campaign.

Do not destroy your relationships

It is hard but not impossible to be in this mad world but not of it. If you must, maintain your mental and emotional hygiene regime in private.

Do not destroy your marriage, family relationships, friendships and social life if you can avoid doing so.

Telling people the truth about the world and especially about themselves is a great way to end up like Uncle Ted in a shed.

Uncle Ted was right when he coined the term “oversocialisation” - but he was obviously not right about sending letter bombs to people.

This “accepted morality” is manufactured and supplied through modern mass culture. It is made up - of messages from the sponsors of the political economy.

Uncle Ted said all this in “Industrial Society and Its Future”.

He is framed as a radical environmentalist, but his ideas go far beyond his outrage at the systematic destruction of the natural world which prompted his terrorism.

Kaczynski’s reading of our sick mass culture and how it is virally transmitted touches on its routine deletion of human dignity.

He also shows the role of “intellectuals” - thought leaders if you like - in the transmission of compliance with the values of universal destruction.

If you think it is too spicy to quote the Unabomber Manifesto, which you should certainly read as it is very interesting, consider the Frankfurt School said this:

GOOD IDEAS, BAD IDEOLOGIES

I am not a Marxist and do not accept the remedies of the Frankfurt School to the problems they correctly diagnosed.

I do not endorse sending letter bombs to people as Kaczynksi did.

One dimension of mental hygiene is developing the discipline to entertain and examine ideas without accepting everything the person who wrote them believes.

The best way to understand why we are in this terrible state is that our system is not centrist nor really liberal or democratic at all. We inhabit an ongoing revolution, which has absorbed and adapted every method which can make it more effective.

The overall goal is to standardise the whole world according to the standards of the internationalist agenda. This is why your religion, traditions, history, laws, culture, arts and architecture and the very meaning of your life is being replaced with the product line of a borderless mass culture produced to make any other way of being unthinkable.

The adverts for this global utopia do not match the awful reality we inhabit. People today are radicalised by this reality. The price of their shopping. The indignity of their lives. The presence of hostile strangers everywhere. The permanent wars, abroad and at home, by means of bombs and sponsored social revolution, which are destroying everything we knew as our own.

The destruction of the natural beauty of the world, the placeless architecture replacing our vernacular, the uglification that is modern art and the aggressive promotion of sexual extremism - even to children.

No amount of propaganda can revive mass belief in this regime. Reality cannot be censored. This political technique relies on the manufacture of mass belief in the liberal system. It is the use of communications technology to create a cult that is so pervasive it is invisible - until it becomes obvious that it is a direct contradiction of the real life effects its parent system has produced.

It is reality which is detransitioning our people from the captive marketplace of ideas created to control them. These cult beliefs are increasingly recognised as an existential threat to everything of real value in our lives.

TOTEMS AND TABOOS

The totems of this cult - the progress flags, the Green death cult, the wars and the mass migration they fuel - are so obviously destructive they must be defended by taboo. This is why critics of these aspects of the internationalist creed are called terrible names and are demonised and criminalised.

The punishment of the prudent and the principled normalises normlessness and attaches severe consequences to the public profession of the truth. It codes sanity and veracity negatively, rewarding ignorant compliance and amplifying those least capable of exercising any emotional continence, resilience or self discipline.

The desired result is to neutralise the ruled - as the only permitted values and standards are those conducive to the goal of the internationalist elite.

Oversocialisation breeds dependency in the population on the supply of virtual rewards for the virtue signalled by professing these beliefs.

STAYING SANE FOR THE WIN

The extremists are in power. Every accusation of extremism they level at you is a confession of their own nature.

This too is part of the process of oversocialisation - to accuse the victim of committing the offence when they complain of the insult and injury they suffer.

If you manage to stay sane you become an example by contrast to the insane evil of the liberal internationalist State.

It is trying to destroy you, your people, your beliefs and your capacity to make sense of the world, your relationship to God, the purpose of your life and the structure of your society.

It is corrupting every concept and converting every institution to its global programme of standardisation. What is being standardised in the process of oversocialisation is mass psychological and emotional dependence on the messaging of the ruling elite. This is the process by which the supply of the meaning of your life is secured.

In summary, oversocialisation is the process by which you are made to believe you can only be a good person if you celebrate the destruction of civilisation.

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

The transmission of anxiety and fear through mainstream memes is the basis of the soft authoritarian power which rules us today.

To recognise, counter and remove this from your thoughts and emotions is to liberate yourself from control, and to make possible the having of better thoughts and feelings.

If you cannot control your own thoughts and feelings someone or something else will.

In fact - they do so. Our thoughts and emotions are prompted and produced by the propaganda system of the liberal regime, which is practically everywhere in our lives.

To recognise and recover from this is to restore your own mental, emotional and spiritual health.

FLOURISHING OR TREMBLING

At the time of Socrates there was a saying, χαλεπὰ τὰ καλά1

This means “all that is beautiful is difficult”, and this proverbial wisdom has a profound meaning for how we should live. That is probably why no one says it any more, as practical and spiritual wisdom is replaced by the way we are ruled with slop which turns you into a trembling ruminant instead of teaching you how to flourish.

Cultivating excellence is beautiful. It is difficult to discipline the intellect, the body, and the emotions.

To do so is to develop beyond the passive state of consumption and stimulation which tethers us to the consumer-credit system. If you can command your own desires they cannot be mobilised, repackaged and sold back to you as “freedom”. To apply this to your life is to develop the sort of practical and spiritual wisdom which makes you a happy and formidable warrior.

Eloquencemaxxing

Some people have said I speak well and that they would like to do so too.

The things I have done to do this myself have not been conducive to the consumer economy and its increasingly cheerless working environment.

I will explain some of those in more detail in later posts. For now, I will begin with a warning that as you refine yourself you will find the system we inhabit even more upsetting than you do now, as you draw its envenomed stings from the core of your being.

Simply, the more you clean up your mind the more the madness of how we are made to live carries a risk.

What is that risk?

YOU MAY BECOME SEVERELY DISCHEESED.

To avoid becoming Discheesement Mouse you must adopt a deeper discipline.

There is no point to clearing out your mind if the results make you cope and seethe into a paroxysm. This too is a matter of discipline, and I will present some practical means of developing that in later posts.

For now I will explain that the way we are ruled stupefies and neutralises us.

REPRESSIVE DESUBLIMATION - CONSUMERISM AS SPIRITUAL HIJACK

Mass belief is produced by the transmission of sponsored messages through every aspect of our culture.

If you want people to believe in something you attach some basic desire to your product, and present it as an aspirational life choice.

You can call it good, wise, new, advanced and present anyone who does not buy into it as bad, stupid, outdmoded and backward. All you have to do to get most people to believe something is to keep telling them the same thing.

This confers a second-order benefit to the consumption and rediffusion of the policy or product or personality on sale. By adopting its aura you can present yourself, with neither effort nor merit, as instantly superior by contrast to those fools who do not buy the same product lines as you do.

So, an appeal to desire which stirs our vanity the basis of modern propaganda, advertising or public relations. This is how they make belief, this is how new norms are normalised and how the marginal becomes the new normal, vice virtue, and so on.

Products are sold by attaching desires and aspirations to their name. This process sells shoes and surgeries and sugar substitutes as well as the cult beliefs of our current political system. It presents a psychological reward for buying in, and it promises severe psychological penalties if you don’t.

In brief, our people are emotionally blackmailed into complying with their own destruction. This is foremost a spiritual destruction2.

The use of mass media and mass culture to produce, police and attach penalties to the rejection of mandatory beliefs became obvious under Covid-19 regimes.

This is done with all the other beliefs too. It is the same technique, expressed severally - which internalises anxiety over prudential disagreement with what we are presented as the official definition of Good, the Just and the True.

This applies to the wars, the justice system, mass migration, hypersexual normalisation, consumer nihilism, and moral inversion generally.

THE PENAL SYSTEM OF SOFT AUTHORITARIANISM

We are not typically handcuffed and roughed up into a van for daring to be sane in public like Callum Barker - who protested against the housing of migrants at the Bell Hotel in Epping. Local girls had been sexually assaulted and raped by migrants at the hotel.

Trying to stop your people being raped by foreigners who should not be here is “incitement to racial hatred” of course.

Getting arrested and jailed does happen sometimes, of course, if you dare to tell the truth in public about any or all of the regime’s universally destructive political economy.

Yet there is an internal firewall which is programmed into us to prevent us ever daring to tell the truth to ourselves in the first place.

This is far more common. It is much easier and cheaper for the State to do to people than to nick them and lock them up. It is how Liberal Democracies invisibly police their populations, and is part of the technique of making pantomime elections appear legitimate, for example.

This is the “Cop in the head” of William Burroughs (another degenerate author whose immoral tales prove remarkably apt to our demoralising times).

It means you are socialised to fear even thinking about the truth of the State we are in as to do so risks the condemnation of the mass culture which supplies you with its Big Lies.

To call them Big Lies, or to even question them out loud, is to risk being condemned by your spouse, family, friends and workmates. The risk of telling the truth is social death. You can also call this modern exile.

Exile has been long regarded by our ancestors as a fate worse than death. It used to mean being sent out of your homeland, away from your family and people forever, to live your days out among strangers.

The exile we face for telling the truth about the state we are in is an internal exile, which is even worse.

THE PRICE OF PRINCIPLE

If you are a prudent, principled person who recognises and respects the truth, you will be placed in an awful dilemma under this form of psychological warfare.

If you name the awful truth, you risk losing your family and friends, your livelihood and even your liberty.

If you see the truth and do not name it, you feel like a traitor to the truth, and to all your ancestors and to your children, too.

This is the terrible state we are in. We have been conditioned into this state of internal division by the technique of the politics of national suicide.

If you ever wonder why so many seemingly capable and decent people go along with their replacement and the ruin of their civilisation consider the psychological and emotional burden they carry whether they speak out or do not.

Being sane and stating the obvious are dangerous to this insane and obviously evil system.

This is why stating the case is criminalised and why anyone who does so is demonised.

To police our people like this is to make them feel profoundly anxious and guilty because they see the truth. It is to brand our pepople as wicked and dangerous because they want their country to be safe for women and children.

It is to shame us into internal exile because we rightfully believe we have a right to our own home, our own homelands. It reserves its strongest curses for those who are brave enough to want to defend the Christian civilisation of their forefathers against its many enemies.

This is a sick system. Its technique of securing its own power over our people aims to break us psychologically, emotionally and spiritually - literally demoralising us all into helpless subjection to a projected of managerially assisted national suicide.

Conversely, the fact this system is recognised as evil gives us the chance to live an heroic life in doing whatever we can to abolish it.

FIREWALLS FAILING

The good news about this internalised policing is it is no longer working.

This technique is more advanced and pervasive than ever - yes - but it can no longer contain populations with its programmed compliance.

The firewalls placed around politics and within the minds of our people are no longer effective in containing the demand for sanity in our political economy.

Why is this social algorithm no longer in control? It is basically a refined form of advertising which radiates from every aspect of our mass culture.

These adverts tell you if you worship the false idols of the liberal-global system you can call yourself a Good Person. Violate these terms and conditions and you can be vilified, ruined and even killed.

Our people are beginning to realise this means you are free to agree with being destroyed now or later. The price of saying something is now less than saying nothing - because if we continue to suffer in silence we stand to lose everything, forever.

MAKE A FRIEND OF YOUR MIND

To recapture your thoughts and emotions from the technique of the regime is to begin to practise the sort of discipline which frees you from external control.

This is ultimately a spiritual discipline, which, if you continue the hard work required to cultivate mental hygiene, will demonstrate why Christ said the truth will set you free.

It does.

You must clear out the memes of cultural production from your mind.

As you cultivate better habits of mind, you will find you disdain self destructive thoughts and emotions. Eventually you will become capable of helping others.

Those you may consider your most bitter enemies in ordinary life are often your friends, family and workmates who might despise you for speaking the truth. These are our people too. They have been captured by a technique designed to do just that - and I will explain more about this concept of “oversocialisation” in the next post.

Before I do so I will remind you to try to consider becoming a sort of social missionary.

If you realise how the sickness of moral inversion permissions the politics of national and spiritual destruction, you will understand your so-called enemies are more like casualties in a battle.

Your social mission is to help the wounded and heal the sick whenever and wherever you can. Many of our people stand with us in this fight and are silenced by the justifiable fear that their lives will be ruined if they openly join us.

Be an example to them that they can show to their families and friends. Show the world we are not the demons we are said to be by the poison machine which rules us into ruin. Cultivate the power to wield the sword of truth, which is the weapon that will rebalance our lives.

The system called liberal democracy has produced a crisis by policy it cannot contain. It is finished. Now is the time to make a better beginning of a future worth the name - for us and for our children.

I detest celebrity, see the current internet as Satan’s Window, and view most things and people on it with suspicion.

Having been damned to fame by means of the Phone Age I consider my life to be a sort of practical joke played on me by God Himself for His own amusement.

I am currently managing not to go insane myself and what I have learned about the information age and its technique has proven very helpful - especially when combined with concepts of human flourishing and their practical everyday use.

I will talk about these, too, showing you what I have done and what I recommend to survive the slopwave which threatens to submerge us all.

BACKGROUND READING

This matters, because it shows how the contents of your mind are furnished with convenient trash for the purposes of pacification.

To restore our civilisation requires that we comprehend what we have lost.

What we are losing today in the mind melting information age is the presence of mind which is fundamental to the recognition of what matters in our lives.

This is why I begin with a post about why you should stop trying to keep up - as doing so will only make you melt down.

The technique of information is so refined it has now overtaken our capacity to make use of it.

Instead, it is increasingly making use of you - and it also does this by making you useless.

When you glom onto the screen you become passive.

As you are saturated with perspectives your picture of reality dissolves.

This makes you a powerless spectator.

To recover your capacity to think and decide for yourself as to how we should live you must understand why this function is not an accident, and that it is vital you learn how to avoid remaining an impotent spectator of your own demise.

THE KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY

Everything in our mass culture is a sales pitch for the global economy.

Lifestyles, politics, news, entertainment, values and the vices presented as virtues all promote the production of profit, whose byproduct is what we might call ourselves.

This is a total system - a system relying on repeat sales or consumption which could fairly be called an addiction economy.

You do not have to think of what you want, because it also supplies the desires its products promise to satisfy.

In this information age, this is the economic basis of our politics and culture. Data has replaced industry, and we now have a knowledge economy instead.

The knowledge it provides drives the demand for services, and the provision of this knowledge is an industry in itself.

How successful is this industry? As John Gray has pointed out, we now have a knowledge economy in which no one knows anything.

As his former student Maurice Glasman added - no one knows how to do anything either.

MAKING BELIEF

Yet something is being made - or remade. We are.

The feedback loop of our personal desires is returned to us with refined appeals, selling us beliefs, a system, a series of consolations in place of the rising aspiration of former decades.

It is only when we cut the feed that we realise that this is all coming at the cost of a great subtraction. Meaning first, then swiftly followed by the supersession of sanity with a permanent series of shocking sensations.

The internet has no end and no editor. It is an eyeball competition, and to enter it is to have your brain consumed like popcorn - forever snapping off into new morsels of momentary savour which fill - for a while - but do not nourish.

The reason you should spend less time on the internet is it does not just drive your enemies insane.

CUSTOMS OF A STRANGE TRIBE

To try to understand the predicament you inhabit, perhaps consider your culture as a grotesque work of art, and the behaviours and beliefs it promotes as the customs of a strange tribe.

These new totems and taboos are transmitted virally. The worship of George Floyd, the defence of war as peace, the transgender virus. The propaganda of competing tribes is sold in the same way as sugar saturated treats: it is weaponised social contagion via mass media.

It was once a mark of the educated to be well read. It is now more important to read well, or not at all - because so much of what we now consume is worse for us than nothing.

NARRATIVE COLLAPSE - AND DATABABEL

The collapse of the global system is also powering the meltbrain culture.

As people realise the Grand Narrative of liberal democracy was an advert for a death cult, they have become incredulous towards everything - and likely to seek alternative meaning anywhere they can find it.

Secondly, with no reliable narrator it seems wisest to hear as many voices as you can. This does not result in a balanced view but babel. What we receive from the Heraklitean flux of the ever-changing info-river is not a God’s-eye view of reality, but a series of shocking contradictions which cannot be integrated into a coherent picture.

The result is overload and meltdown. The byways to brain-boiled bafflement are constellated by apophenia - the drawing of connections between bright points of dopamined data where none really exist.

In this age of sensation many people are most incredulous at the sight of reality. It is hard to convince people that things are and even can be real, after a century of propaganda towards the contrary.

The liberal advert promised a life without limits. We live in a moment of correction, where this grandiose fantasy is colliding with the hard limits of reality.

One important dimension of this is in your head. Your brain has limits as to what it can integrate into sense. To overload it is to reduce you to a state of overstimulated paralysis, where nothing can reliably be decided or done.

In short, trying to keep up will make you useless.

This is very good from the point of view of an addiction economy, which seeks to create dependence on its products. It profits from your loss of self control and self command. The less you use it, the less it can use you.

The converse is true, as the more you interact with the algorithm, the less of you there really is. It is subtraction for distraction, and the side effects of this regimen include the dissolving of the very self you sought to enrich, or amplify, or entertain. In the end, perhaps the only cohesive picture of yourself which will remain is the one which is attached to your social media profile.

You can refuse to vanish into the mirror of course - though it has an appeal which began well before the digital age.

It was first used by the Aztecs to grant the vision of the demon Tezcatlipoca, “Smoking mirror”.

Obsidian mirrors were used to view the secrets of the lives of other men, with the caveat that the black mirror also looked into you.

Permitting the void to enter you did not just grant knowledge - its black economy also confused the viewer with lies and tricks - with no indication of what was true or false in the visions it gifted.

The simple alternative to meltbrain is to limit your exposure to the void. It does not become you, after all, and it cannot do so if you do not feed it with yourself.

Just as you should not dine forever on desserts, it is prudent to practice the discipline of “enough” with regard to what you are regarding.

And what is regarding YOU.

New habits - especially good ones - are hard but not impossible to acquire. You can set a timer on Satan’s Window.

You can refuse to keep up. After all, what is the fear of missing out against the danger of going missing altogether? Remember that every minute spent in the void of the black mirror is time subtracted from real life. How often are you really there?

This life is not eternal, it is limited - and we are in the end the sum of what we have and have not done. We will answer for this. All of us.

There is a higher spiritual purpose to life than information paralysis. If you can’t look away from the eyeball magnet you may not even remember it is there at all.

Why has the murder of counter-liberal politicians and public figures been normalised in the West?

In this post I explore the killing of right wing figures such as Ann Widdicombe, Charlie Kirk, David Amess MP as a product of a process of character assassination. This process is part of our political system, and is a function of the social algorithm by which we are ruled.

THE PENALTY FOR BLASPHEMY IS DEATH

If you prominently speak out against the Liberal State Religion of open borders, net zero and the rainbow flag you can expect to be demonised, deplatformed and killed.

Last week a British counter-Liberal politician was murdered in her home.

Ann Widdecombe, a Catholic and former Conservative Minister of State and MP, was found dead in her Devon bungalow on the 9th of July. She was 79 years old, and the police said she had suffered “serious injuries”.

She was a lifelong opponent of abortion, refused the rainbow agenda, and ridiculed the climate change cult.

These are acts of blasphemy against the beliefs of the Liberal State.

As the murder of Charlie Kirk, of Quentin Deranque, and the brutal assaults on AfD politicians shows, the True Believers in these totems of mass destruction will celebrate when you are hospitalised or killed.

The State will massage each instance of this procedural process it has produced, saying the regrettable deaths are exceptional - when in fact the State we are in has made these events a matter of rule.

People like you and me are routinely demonised for violating what the liberals believe to be the terms and conditions of the utopia they are creating - by destroying our lives.

These are Social Contract Killings - and they are seen as acts of virtue by the extremists who have been radicalised by a century of liberal make belief.

KILLING IN THE NAME OF UTOPIA

After the discovery of Widdecombe’s corpse was made public Devon and Cornwall Police launched a murder investigation, saying there was "nothing to suggest" the murder was politically motivated.

A BBC report at 15:44 on the 10th of July said:

- Police issue a statement saying they have launched a murder investigation.

The force says there is "no information that this is a politically motivated crime" and also confirms the incident is not being treated as terror-related

A suspect was arrested on the same day, then released the next morning on Saturday 11th of July.

That night, a second suspect was then arrested in South Yorkshire by officers from Counter Terrorism Police North East. The man, from an address 270 miles from Widdicombe’s home in Rotherham - was charged with murder.

On Sunday 12th of July police again tell the nation “ there is nothing to suggest the alleged murder was politically motivated”.

The next day, Monday 13th, “Counter Terrorism Policing South East states it now leads the investigation into Widdecombe’s murder as “new information and evidence has come to light”.

The Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the liberal State’s counter-extremism initiative - called “Prevent” - had no knowledge of the suspect1.

On Tuesday 14th the Head of Counter Terrorism tells reporters Widdecombe had been killed in a "targeted attack"

A day after that reports emerge of a “leftwing motive” in the murder of Ann Widdecombe.

British police instantly downplayed the event, cementing in the public mind a “nothing to see here” narrative about what the BBC referred to as the “death” of Widdicombe.

Why would the messaging we receive seek to massage away the facts of this horrific case?

HOPE NOT HATE - STATE PARTNERS IN CRIME

Ann Widdicombe was featured in a now deleted page on a State-aligned “counter-extremist” NGO.

Hope Not Hate is a Liberal State propaganda and smear group which markets itself as a neutral arbiter of social reality, presenting a right thinking remedy to wrongthink.

“Hope not Hate exists to challenge all kinds of extremism and build local communities. Our work focuses on the organised far-right, the communities who are susceptible to them and the issues and policies which give rise to them”

Founded by the Communist-aligned Nick Lowles, it frames anyone who disagrees with the diabolical revolutionary Liberalism destroying normal life as a racist, a fascist, or a “far right” extremist.

Hope Not Hate produces character assassinations which function as a preamble to actual assassinations.

Hope Not Hate devoted a long entry to Ann Widdicombe detailing her crimes against the revolutionary cult which is ruining our lives.

It was deleted after her murder, because it obviously indicates how people like her murderer would develop the idea to kill her.

Hope Not Hate’s entry on Widdicombe shows that the kind of people who write and read their reports think her very existence is a threat to their utopian fantasies.

It detailed how Widdicombe was a homophobe and a sexist for having Catholic opinions, considered sane and normal by anyone outside the spells cast by the grievance industry.

HNH intimated she was an anti-semite and added to her charge sheet her rejection of the climate change grand narrative, her support for the return of the death penalty, and her opposition to abortion.

This form of mass killing is not even recognised as controversial by the liberals, because it is presented - as all forms of mass killing - as the defence of liberal rights.

The permanent wars which wallpaper our lives are marketed in the same way. We are ruled by a Virtue Killing Machine, which signals its destructive evil as the noble defence of the highest good.

Hope Not Hate is a poison machine which presents its toxic smear tactics as a panacea.

Now its senior leadership will be shaping the politics of the British government.

RADICAL PROPAGANDA AS POLICY

Andy Burnham is the new UK Labour Prime Minister, replacing the disastrous dalek-voiced Keir Starmer.

Burnham will be installed into office today. He has appointed the former director of Hope Not Hate as his head of political strategy.

As Guido Fawkes reported,

“Matthew McGregor was Director of Campaigns & Communications for Hope Not Hate from January 2018 to October 2021”

Yet the former HNH propaganda chief is not the only one.

The investigative journalist Jody Macintyre asked why Hope Not Hate was backing Burnham in the Makerfield byelection.

On 29th May, Macintrye reminded readers of a few facts to complete the information picture.

If you think this irrelevant, consider we are in a permanent war on our civilisation, and that the US Vice President JD Vance told Joe Rogan the Israel lobby was underming US efforts to make peace in Iran, and had paid influencers to attack him and the Trump administration.

The war on our civilisation has many sponsors, and they are active across the political spectrum. That consensus is forced in part by the exclusion of anyone who dares to present a solution to its politics of permanent crisis.

INVENTING THE THREAT OF THE FAR RIGHT

Hope Not Hate invents fake terrorist threats to justify its existence, its funding and influence.

Hope Not Hate repeatedly branded Charlie Kirk as “far right” and smeared him - along with many others - for “denialism” of the Covid-19 regime. If you are not a believer in lockdowns and vaccines, you are an enemy of the State which mandated them as the new terms of the new condition of “freedom”.

These terms and conditions are set by Hope Not Hate’s ideological framing.

Hope Not Hate’s Liron Velleman, a convicted child sex offender, helped to write the UK’s online safety bill.

The Bill was sold to the British public as a means of protecting our children from the kind of people who wrote it.

In fact, this Bill was such an outrageous escalation of State censorship it fuelled a diplomatic incident with the US government. Who was responsible for that?

As my fellow far-right extremist Tom Rowsell correctly observed, Hope Not Hate is not simply aligned with the Labour government - it is identical with it.

Hope Not Hate’s integration into the State is nothing new, as UnHerd’s report explained:

The founder of Hope Not Hate, Nick Lowles, formerly worked for Searchlight Magazine, a “pro-democracy” and “antifascist” operation linked to British State intelligence.

Searchlight’s “pro-democracy” actions included inventing threats to lie to the British public about the far-right menace, which Searchlight existed to warn them about. It created the conditions for its own existence, whilst removing any reasonable defence of those of our own. This is where Hope Not Hate came from:

In the minds of these people the defence of democracy is their mission, and anyone who disagrees with their definition of it is branded a dangerous threat.

This creates a political and social monopoly for a group of people whose interests are not yours, and whose motive is to brainwash and replace you.

This is in fact the democracy that is being defended today - a war on sanity, on the meaning of words and of our lives, on the existence of our people, our freedoms, and on our entire civilisation. If they notice this they will toxify your reputation to the point it becomes a public duty to stop you.

This is how killing people like you and me is condoned by the drip feed of extremist propaganda, sponsored by the State, to defend its right to take your life if you disagree with the political economy of national suicide.

If you threaten the imagined social contract of these lunatics, its terms dictate that you don’t deserve to live.

Social Contract Killings have been normalised by the same State which has made a business of mass migration, permitted the rape of our children for decades, and which refuses to recognise real terror threats as it prefers to designate the threatened - us - as the problem to be solved.

BRITISH STATE - ENEMY OF CIVILISATION

Yesterday the US published a speech by Marco Rubio, in which he questioned the dangerous framing of domestic threats to civilisation.

In it, he showed the insidious manner in which progressive revolutionary terror was described with routine sympathy in our mass media - promoting the belief that only the Right presented a threat.

In reality, terrorism has been the stock in trade of radical progressives in the West for decades. And it continues to this day.

Rubio said this was the product of a counter-civilisational evil.

This is a distinctive and unique evil. It has always been driven by a hatred, above all else, for civilization itself.

Under Rubio, the State Department noted “The Need for civilisational allies in Europe” in May, 2025.

Did the US see such an ally in Britain then?

UnHerd’s report showed serious concerns over the use of “extremism” to silence critics of a liberal system which is endangering its own people with mass migration.

It is unlikely the US sees a civilisational ally with a government now staffed by people whose expertise lies in denying real threats and designating their remedies as dangerous extremism.

Britain has a State which refuses to see the obvious evil of the terror in its midst, as every Islamist terror attack from the Manchester Arena bombing to the beheading of Fusilier Rigby was carried out by persons known to and ignored by the authorities.

It would be racist to notice this threat.

It is a State which frees convicted paedophiles and imprisons native British people who speak against the crimes we suffer as a result of State policy.

It would be paedophobic to jail child predators.

If you speak against any or all of the destructive totems of the differently saned they will curse you into unpersonhood, and celebrate when you’re murdered.

This is the State we are in today. It is not an ally of the US, as it is the enemy of its own people. The Social Contract it defends with propaganda, lies and death sentences democratised through sanctioned hate speech is a contract to kill our nation and our entire way of life.

The supreme virtue of this social contract is to end anyone who will not sign their lives away to it.

If we submit to this, we are finished anyway. If we get old, as Ann Widdicombe grew old, we may simply be ended in our dotage in the same way, in a sacrificial homage to the Enemy of all mankind.

This is not a matter of political debate. It is a matter of life and death. Ours.

Those who would take everything from us to secure their own are bewitched by the diabolical belief that the defence and commission of evil is a duty to the public good.

These people are dangerous.

Proceed with caution, and wherever you can, try to help them detransition from this morally inverted cult which equates sanity with a death threat.

To talk about De Maistre is to remember the truth of the limits of Man has never been forgotten, and to understand De Maistre is to realise that a system whose revolt denies these limits is bound to lead us all into disaster.

This long-dead French jurist is not only startling in his continued explanatory power, but he can speak to the madness of our times, that silent siren of “the trilling wire in the blood”, which shapes our dreams and prompts desire towards the end of us all beneath a monument of ruin called Progress.

REASON AS A CULT

The Revolutionaries in France instituted a formal Cult of Reason which they installed in certain Catholic Churches - most famously in the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris in 1793, which was renamed The Temple of Reason.

A woman was worshipped as the Goddess of Reason, and a little Greek temple was made to represent “Philosophy”, which was put on the top of a model magic mountain placed in the Cathedral.

A “flame of truth” burned on the altar, and the congregation of sang hymns to “Liberty”, celebrating their liberation from sanity. The Deist Robespierre denounced these “ridiculous farces” and replaced them after only 5 months with his own: The Cult of the Supreme Being. That lasted two months.

All such cults were banned by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802. The open attempt to make a Religion of Man was a spectacle so obviously ridiculous even the revolutionaries cringed at the sight of it.

This is the reason the same humanist cult is submerged in talk of rights, equality, justice and liberation beyond the boundaries of sanity and morality today.

THE STUDY ON SOVEREIGNTY

This is the name of one of De Maistre’s works on the nature of Nations, the Divine origins of sovereignty which demonstrates that the revolutionary theory and practice is crime against God and Man.

The Study on Sovereignty is a rejection of the ideals and practice of the French Revolution. It shows why De Maistre rejected it, and explains why a man who initially supported the Revolution came to condemn it.

In The Study De Maistre argues four main points.

• That sovereignty - and therefore authority - is Divine in origin

• That the Enlightenment idea of sovereignty - such as that expressed in Rousseau, is false. This means De Maistre argues that “popular sovereignty” - that of “the people” - is a fiction

• That Nations exist, they are peoples not legal fictions, and these peoples (being Nations) have distinct National Character. This means for De Maistre that each Nation requires a specific political constitution according to its nature - and that no one form of government is universally valid

• Finally, De Maistre says the constitutive power of Nations is not constructed but founded - by a Founder, who is sovereign. The Nation is not a pocket watch put together to tick through progress in time as the revolutionaries past and present would have us believe.

I bring this extract to you to encourage you to read it yourself. De Maistre’s writings are astonishing for their blunt statement of the facts of Man’s folly and his limitations, which include his inability to recognise them in himself and those of the crazed fantasies which inspire his revolting actions.

The basic argument is that revolutionaries reject the basis of reality and do not accept that the nature of man is limited for all time and is changeless.

If you read this book with our times in mind it becomes obvious how the worship of a false idol of Man has produced the murder of meaning and mandatory madness we inhabit today.

Here is the opening of the sixth part of De Maistre’s Study on Sovereignty, which was written between 1794–1795. This work is an often amusing vivisection of the rotten corpus of Jean-Jacques Rousseau whose legacy is the lifeblood of all revolutionaries.

Why does this matter?

Rousseau promoted the basic revolutionary concept which makes necessary the replacement of everything with The Revolution.

He said it was the way we live - our civilisation - which makes men bad and unhappy. He said that Man was basically good, born free, chained by custom and religion into bondage. He spoke of Liberation, and the Liberty he championed recognised no limits to human potential. Man could save himself, he said, if only he believed as Rousseau and the revolutionaries he inspired believe.

These beliefs, mass produced by our mass media, all promote the destruction of our entire civilisation as a virtue made necessary by the cause of human emancipation.

This is the reason our system reshapes our lives, inside and outside of us all, with a power of make belief which makes us believe that national suicide, nihilism and moral degeneracy are Good and Just, and that the lies of the Regime which rules us into annihilation are True.

It is the reason we see the Vatican now promoting a Rousseauian Religion of Man in place of that of Christ, and why our States demand we pay soaring taxes to destroy our civilisation.

REVOLUTIONARY PROGRESS - A CULT OF LIES

De Maistre shows the basic idea of the Revolution is a dangerous fantasy.

Man cannot transcend his limits by his own means. Progress is a fiction in the sense of inexorable moral uplift. Man’s nature does not change, and cannot be changed by believing it can be. To make all men enemies of civilisation in the cause of Liberty is to mobilise all humanity in a declaration of war - against God, and the Common Good which flows from the recognition of His sovereignty.

This means that all attempts to liberate Man by appeals to human progress are wicked, and will produce exactly the sort of universal damage we witness today in every dimension of our lives.

The disaster we call the new normal has been permitted by the supply of the false beliefs of the revolution as reality to the masses.

This is the mass production of popular consent for the weapon of mass destruction which calls itself Liberal Democracy. Its legitimacy is the popularisation of lies whose denial endangers your liberty. That is how we end up in the State we are in, where the mention of basic facts and the noticing of the obvious carry social, career and criminal penalties.

What the Revolution seeks to escape is reality, what it seeks to free us from is sanity and order and meaning, and what it supplies in place of all these is a living hell promoted by the promise of a paradise on earth1 from which, we are told, there is no escape.

This too is a lie, as the work and example of De Maistre shows.We do not have to live like this.

DETRANSITIONING WITH JOSEPH DE MAISTRE

De Maistre was a Freemason for twenty years of his life. He began to reject Masonry several years after the Revolution in 1789. He then completely repudiated it, seeing in its Illuminism the source of all the destructive terror of Revolution.

Initially he supported the Revolution, but again by 1792 had come to recognise it as evil - being a revolt against the natural order created by God.

De Maistre died a faithful Roman Catholic, concluding that the madness of Revolution was a sort of constant expiation for the sins of Mankind. He argued for the restoration of civilisation through the teachings of the Catholic Church.

In those teachings the Church condemns the false god of human equality, and states that any politics founded on such idols as equality and the liberation of Man from the true sense of his nature will result in violent national and international disorder and the total moral collapse of society.

He will explain how the ruin of our lives became the landmarks in time of the spirit of revolution, and he shows you how to reclaim your mind - and your soul - from the Enemy of Mankind who inspires all revolts against the order and justice of God.

The power of Joseph De Maistre lies not only in his robust rejection of the genealogy of revolutionary ideas which have benighted us since the mass deception of The Enlightenment.

The personal example of Joseph De Maistre is that of a man who was also misguided and enchanted, and who by the fearless recognition of the truth about himself, mankind and the nature of reality managed to detransition from the trans-sane cult which has captured so many of our people today.

I shall bring you more counter-revolutionary ideas to help you and your future friends to detransition from the political economy of Satan which has captured our lives, and delivers us into evil.

I have been at the Roman Forum in Gardone, Italy this week - where I gave a talk on the Revolution in Church and State.

Here are the themes I discussed, with many sources supplied from my own work and from the Catholic tradition.

I spoke first on the revolution in the state under the liberal system, and then showed how these techniques explain the revolutionary condition of the modern Church.

I argued that we who recognise this failed attempt to replace our civilisation, the religion on which it was founded and the institutions by which it is administered are not revolutionaries.

We are counter-revolutionaries.

We defend the religion founded by Christ. We seek the restoration God’s justice and the respect for His natural order, the balancing of rights with duties, the return of human dignity to labour and life in general.

The Catholic Church in its traditional teachings has all the answers if it would but preach them.

It has presented us with a blueprint for a political economy of the Common Good.

As the revolution eats itself, we are presented with an historic opportunity to once more look up, instead of down into the mire.

SOURCES FOR MY TALK

Part one relies mainly on my own work showing the last century is the history of a revolutionary system known as “Liberal Democracy”.

I wrote an introduction to this concept here, with ten instalments on differing aspects of a revolution and its technique so normalised it is largely unrecognised for what it is.

Part two shows you the crisis in Church and State was predicted in its every dimension by two outstanding works in the Catholic tradition.

The first is Pascendi Dominici Gregis, published by Pope St Pius X in 1907.

This encyclical was republished in 1908 as A Catechism of Modernism, showing the modern errors, their causes and their remedies. This is as much a book about the correct view of the world as it is a guide to how our beliefs have been systematised to promote vice as virtue.

In a later instalment I covered the parts of Pascendi which describe the creation of a religion of man such as we see in Synodality today.

Again, Pascendi shows how this new modern cult is a religion of errors - and that it paves the way for atheism and nihilism.

With reference to the Catholic Social Teaching of Leo XIII I explain how the attempt to create a “Catholicism minus Christ” continued the concept of creating a mass culture absent the Divine, for which Matthew Arnold argued in “Culture and Anarchy” in 1863:

As you can see, much of what I say is not my own point of view - but a revival of the wisdom of the Catholic tradition, which predicted precisely the causes, techniques and results of this revolution.

It also shows us how to rescue our civilisation from its enemies. I recommend you read the Catholic Social Teaching and Pascendi for these reasons.

I think it is helpful to explain what “Liberal Democracy” is, how it was made, by whom, what for, and why it has produced over the Liberal Century the state of emergency we now inhabit. Finally, I show why that system is now ending.

This is the reason I am reposting today a summary of some chapters in my forthcoming book, A Brief History of Liberal Democracy.

Before I discuss the end of its ruling myths and what will likely replace them, I thought it would be helpful to put what I have written into order.

SUMMARY

The following ten posts take a lot of time to read. If you would prefer to read a summary of what I call the “liberal system with global ambitions” and its political technique of makaing mass belief in itself, you can read this one post which summarises everything I talk about in each of the chapters below:

TEN PERSPECTIVES ON “LIBERAL DEMOCRACY”

The system we inhabit is a revolutionary system which systematically subtracts all other beliefs, methods of meaning, historical facts and moral foundations from our lives - leaving only its own products to provide our sense of purpose and political possibilities.

It is deliberately bewitching, and has delivered us into a postmodern confusion about everything from the basis of reality to the belief system of modern religion - which is essentially the worship of ideological idols.

In these chapters I explain the political technique of the 20th century, showing how an internationalist economic project produced and installed a political consensus whose impossible dream was to replace civilisation everywhere with itself.

Chapter One introduces the general argument, showing how a system of permanent war was created and sold as progress towards the pinnacle of the human condition:

Chapter Two explores the economic basis of the planned liberal system, whose global ambitions and promotion of social revolution were undertaken to replace the nations of the world with a borderless supermarket - liberated into debt.

Chapter Three shows how the techniques of manufacturing public opinion - refined in the propaganda efforts of the First World War - informed the making of mass belief by which liberal democracies are ruled.

In Chapter Four I explained how liberal democracy markets its dreams of a life without limits, seeking to replace the basis of humanity and our former civilisation with an artificial paradise.

In Chapter Five I looked at how the counterfeit culture of the liberal machine has taken the liberties which existed before it, replacing everything of value with itself - including the traditional definitions of “liberalism”.

The sixth chapter examines the liberal revolutions after the First World War, examining how the Weimar Republic radically inverted the moral values of Western civilisation - and suspended democracy then as now to do so.

Chapter Seven discusses the inauguration of organised political warfare with the creation of the CIA after World War Two. This is the beginning of the coordinated use of cultural production - shaping our mass culture as a vast, sponsored industry of liberal propaganda.

Chapter Eight reveals the technique by which the postwar consensus was manufactured by cultural production, to generate a “pseudo-environment” of legitimacy around the agenda of the liberal elite.

In Chapter Nine I explained the “soft power” of the liberal empire, whose global ambitions were to be secured by the sponsorship of social revolution - at home and abroad.

Chapter Ten dissects the machine politics which delivers election success to the politicians of permanent change, showing how Blairite methods are themselves being replaced - by a transition to digital governance.

TRANSITIONING OUR CIVILISATION

I went to Econe in Switzerland this week with my son to witness the consecration of four bishops by the SSPX, a traditional Catholic fraternity which exists to ensure that traditional Catholicism is preserved.

The Vatican has now excommunicated all the priests, religious, bishops and everyone who adheres to the SSPX - that means, people like me who go to mass and receive the sacraments in SSPX parishes.

Reports are already emerging raising issues with the excommunications, as they are said to theologically questionable and inconsistent with canon law.

The Society of St Pius X and its faithful have been excommunicated by the Vatican for being too Catholic.

Why has this happened?

This has happened because the Vatican is now preaching “Synodality”, which is not the Catholic religion.

The Society needs bishops to continue to ordain priests, in order to preserve the teaching and practice of the Catholic religion.

This is called the “State of necessity” or even “State of emergency” - being a phrase used to explain why the Society is consecrating bishops without the permission of the Vatican.

If you think this harsh or partisan, consider the work of Professor William A Thomas, Papal Theologian at the Holy See.

I wrote a treatment of his book “Catholic Revivalism or a Synodal Church” here.

His book was published this year and it explains that the Vatican is now preaching a New Religion which is not the Catholic religion.

It compares his book to a treatment of Synodality by the SSPX, called “Synodality: An Attack on Papal Authority” published in 2024.

If you read Prof. Thomas’ book you will hear from a man who served Pope John Paul II and who went to school with Pope Leo XIV tell you that the Vatican is teaching a modernist religion of Man which is not Catholic.

He calls for a Catholic Revivalism, based on catechesis - education in the Catholic Faith.

WHY IS THIS CRISIS SO CONFUSING?

The reason why this crisis is so hard to understand is because we are the most poorly catechised generation in the history of the Church, following on the second most poorly catechised generation.

The way we have been ruled has subtracted the knowledge we require to discern right from wrong, error from doctrine and so on, as this is the technique of all revolutions: to supply only the meanings and beliefs which make belief in the ideals and idols of the revolutionaries. You are here.

To correct this deliberate subtraction I strongly suggest you read the Catholic Social Teaching of Leo XIII written between the 1860s and 1890s .

This will equip you to understand:

• How this crisis came about

• How it was created

• Why it was created

• How all this was predicted by Church teaching well over a century ago in every detail

Correctly understood, they are a blueprint for life after the Liberal Death Machine whose revolution created the crisis in Church and State.

THE SYNTHESIS OF ALL HERESIES

It appears we can now witness the fruits of a modernist revolution in the Church, as it now teaches a revolutionary humanist religion of man in place of that of Christ.

As you can see from just one of many examples given above, the open celebration of beliefs and practices in direct contradiction of the Catholic religion attracts no censure or excommunication.

The sacraments are profaned or even phased out, sin is presented as virtue, and Catholics are persecuted for refusing to defect from the religion of Christ to that of Man.

How could this be happening?

A second book predicted this, showing the philosophical grounds and theological and political distortions which the modernisers of the Catholic religion would use to replace the faith with this new cult of Man.

These two books will demonstrate to you the fact that in its traditional teachings the Catholic Church has all the answers to life.

If the Vatican would but teach these to the faithful and preach them to the world, the crisis in the Church and State we currently inhabit would be solved.

There are answers to the troubling questions of our time. These answers will resolve your every question - about how to live, how to rule the State, how to recognise what is Good, and of course how to understand what is Catholic teaching and what is not.
